You know what..... as negative as we a can feel after coping the caning we have over the past few years, I think that we can be confident that the wheels are starting to turn. You know that feeling you have when there is a discussion that you really need to have, a really hard one, and you are nervous as flower about having it.... can't sleep a night... the whole bit........ and then you have it. And even though, after having that conversation, everything is not peaches and ice cream... you feel better about getting it off your chest. All the shite that is in the back of your mind... eating at you every day.... it's out..... and nothing is immediately better, but it's out. It stops eating at you every moment..... You feel lighter. I think that's where we're at as a club now. We've got people on board that really care about the club.... Ratts, Braddles, Smorgan <<ducks>>>, Pagan <<ducks>>> Sticks, Fev, 1AW.... they may not be the best individuals, there are probably better coaches, better midfielders and better administrators around, but you're never going to the best individuals in every position... Look at Sydney. But what we have done through all this bollocks in the past few months is, in my view, left the past in the past. Like that hard discussion you needed to make, it wasn't easy, but farrrrk it felt good when you made it. We feel lighter, we feel like we are all in this together and individually and collectively we can make a difference. Next year we have people in the coaching staff who the players remember and really look up to, we have a plan to have 21st Century facilities, we have Murphy, Walks, Kennedy, Bower, Fev, T-Bird, Setanta, Simmo and Gibbs, Hansen, The Burger or Gumby..... Black Friday was years ago, the coaching challenge has been and gone, Jack is a memory, Collo is a memory..... The baggage is gone. And what does that give us? I gives us NOTHING. But maybe that's what we need. Nothing is a clean slate, where all that is available to us, the Carlton Football Club, is the future that we create for ourselves. I'm excited. |

Its all about perception. At the moment the perception from September was shambles, ramble you name it. The perception in October to the common supporter is the right moves are being made, we see the light, success is a stones through away (Albeit a long throw). |

In the stumbling and bumbling of September, at least some good descisions have been made and maybe we have had a little luck as well. In September, I really felt that the board was toally Non Compis Mentis - in other words, just not up to it. But there must be some people there that have either got the advice they needed or have thought of it themselves and cobbled together a strategy of sorts. Who knows whether the threat of a challenge or maybe just a sense of needing to do something positive for the club motivated this. It doesnt really matter, what does matter is that the severe wheel wobble we had seems to have stopped for now. But what everyone really needs to hear about next is are the good draft selections that Carlton has made... |

Bloody gripping post motts. Just beautiful. In August many were crying out for 2006 to finish and for 2007 to start. Right now we say bring on the draft, and bring on the PSD...things are starting to go our way...and if we get the 2002 PP...wow...but doesn't matter....we're really looking forward to 2007 and 2008. We're still in 2006 and we're still looking forward to the rest of 2006...strange that isn't it? Whatever....Bring it on. Go The Baby Blues |

Great post but I think people forget that at the end of the day Pagan like many before him were unwanted by the Carlton Football Club. Denis like us supported the club as a youngster and has now found his way home. I can accept he is not he man to lead us from the wilderness but am also prepared to aknowledge he is a Carlton man. |

Hope is there for everyone. ![]() Absolutely! It is funny that no matter how many times you get knocked down, there is always some hope some where deep inside. |

Hope springs eternal. I think the signs are there that, at least off-field, we're starting to turn the tide. Trade week was sensational and the signing of Thornton and Russell I think will galvanise the playing group a little. I am the eternal (perhaps mindless) optimist, but I reckon we're not that far away. |
