State of Origin should be during the mid season break. Teams should stop whinging and let players play the best of the best. The end of season junket is a good thing I reckon. State of Origin wouldn't work at that time of year IMO. |

Neither to be honest. When the Aussies get physical Ireland can't compete and Origin died with the growth of the national comp. |

Players don't have the same passion for their home state as they used to, for reasons mentioned by TG. |

Maybe we should try to look beyond a state of origin. Something like the NBA East vs West All Star Weekend. Make ours North (QLD, NSW, NT, ACT) vs South (VIC, SA, WA, TAS). Talking it up as the new states taking on the established states will give it some background and bragging rights. Todays' game shows that this hybrid game will not work, and i doubt the Irish will continue to allow themselves to be beaten up and hospitalized for sport. The Australian players are doing nothing to enhance Australia's reputation overseas. |

International rules is a shambles until the day Gaelic Football becomes a professional sport. As much as they try their hearts out, If Australia wanted to turn up the pressure they will always kill them with a fifth string side. Who knows with the influx of Irish players into the league at present, it might not be inconceivable to think an Irish AFL Rules representative team could be playing in 10 years? Carlos, Kennely, Begley, Aisake and the new Collingwood player, that is a fair jump in just over 3 years. |

On the right track but it would have to be East (VIC, NSW, QLD, TAS) Vs West (WA, SA, NT). South, the tradtional football states, would be far too powerful for North. |

Fair comment...unless the rules get changed to take the physical stuff out of the International game I cant see it continuing and Origin while having some support doesnt have the same appeal since we have had the national comp... ... |
