I'm in bed, on my lap top, trying to explain Talking Carlton to my wife, who is just shaking her head and rolling her eyes. (Clearly she's not a footy lover - although she has heard of Fevola) It got me wondering how other peoples partners react to losing their loved one's to an anonymous bunch of footy tragics for a percentage of their day. PS Sorry to post such an unfooty like thread... I better at least mention "Gibbs" and maybe throw in the phrase "board challenge". |

My significant other is an Essendon* supporter but he isn't quite as fanatical as me so he doesn't post on BomberBlitz or anything. He hears about every topic I get involved in every arguement I get myself into, he knows a bit about the posters I talk about. He thinks we are all morons because we barrack for Carlton but he doesn't mind me getting on here, he always thinks I'm right so when I tell him about the conversations and stuff it is nice to have him on my side ![]() |

It got me wondering how other peoples partners react to losing their loved one's to an anonymous bunch of footy tragics for a percentage of their day. PS Sorry to post such an unfooty like thread... I better at least mention "GIBBS" and maybe throw in the phrase "board challenge". Irregardless of how enthusiatic she may be regarding this forum, I still bet she'd LOVE a Carlton membership for Christmas! "But darling, you know how you always say you want to be involved more with the things I'm interested in..." My partner's a Carlton supporter *made sure this time, learnt my lesson from that feral Pies-mad girl I dated before her* - but not what you'd call fanatic... still doesn't stop me from trying to get her interested in something that I dig... Comments that I hear regarding TC: "Are you on that Talking Carlton AGAIN?!" Who's Bryce Gibbs?? *Say what!* ...Pagan's a nice guy, why would they say that about him? Honey, what's a camelboy? The seasons over - why are you still reading about football? Geez that verbs talks some s#&$! *lol, only j/k!* ![]() |

My girlfriend wasn't much of a footy follower before we started going out - although growing up in Perth she thought the Eagles were ok. However, she is now a fully converted Carlton supporter. Managed to get her along to a few games and you know you are doing ok when she started following my lead and absolutely ripping into Didak and Collingwood supporters after he felled Scotto. Of all the things she wants for Christmas, she tells me she wants a proper Carlton jumper with Murph's number on the back. She's been wearing my old jumper with Ratt's number and lets just say its a little big for her. All this said, she isn't quite at the level yet where she understands me being on here every day getting updates (especially not when the season is over). But I'm proud to say I've brought another supporter on board! |

Sorry SparkyBlue but I am bursting at the seams!!! Irregardless is not a word!!!! Even If Dictionary.com recognises it, it is absurd. It's either Irrespective..... or...... Regardless.....not...... Irregardless. Irregardless makes no sense. Feels better...phew |

I once went out with a bomber supporting bird. She smelt like bumcrack as well as being stupid. Just like her team. |

Feels better...phew http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=irregardless Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term. Although one might reasonably argue that it is no different from words with redundant affixes like debone and unravel, it has been considered a blunder for decades and will probably continue to be so. ![]() |

We can't watch an Essendon* Vs Carlton game together one of us goes in the Big Room (him) and I get the crappy TV in the Bedroom....We can't gloat to eachother about who wins either cos it ends in quite a heated arguement. When we win even if I try to wipe the smile off my face he tells me to piss off somewhere and that he doesn't want to see me and if I gloat again (allthough I wasn't trying to)He'll ban me from watching Carlton...nothing ever eventuates though...He's so cute when he's cut. ![]() He does think we are in a better position as far as youth and talent is concerned to that of Essendon*...which also pisses him off...he really is a typical Essendon* supporter. |
