Post subject: | Carlton and Iraq - The Similarities |
Both Iraq and Carlton were once ruled by dictators... They had Saddam. We had Big Jack. Both were subsequently removed by outside forces in conjunction with elements of the people themselves... In Iraq's case, it was the USA. In Carlton's case, it was the USC (Unofficial Selection Committee). Both were then faced with the problem of a power vacuum at the top left by the removal of the incumbent leader. In Iraq's case this has led to bitter infighting. In Carlton's case it has also led to bitter infighting. This has then led to a rudderless situation with no-one of worth stepping up... Iraq removed Sadaam and now has no decisive leadership. Carlton got rid of Elliot and now has no decisive leadership. This leaves us with the present situation... Iraq now proceed to bomb the shit of each other in a grab for power. Carlton now proceed to take shots at each other in a grab for power (which is a change from their usual activity of shooting themselves in the foot). So the moral of the story is, when you start something, you need to forsee how it's going to finish - or you end up fixing the problem in the short term while giving yourself a long term headache. Maybe we need Henry Kissinger to step in and sort out this mess... By the way, this is not a pro-Elliot (or for that matter pro-Saddam) post. |

Bad similies George. To compare a football club to the massive death and injury toll in Iraq is not reasonable. I am sure the diggers couldnt compare limbless children and burnt out homes to a poor administration and bad win / loss ratio Turn up the oxygen mate because the frontal lobe is suffering... |

You're right. I'm sure most people on this forum care a whole lot more for what happens to Carlton then the lastest news from Iraq. |
