Based on the Bullants Round 1 team, Carlton's Round 1 team would line up something like this:

B: Walker, Thornton, S O'hAilpin
HB: Scotland, Whitnall, Bower
C: Simpson, Murphy, Gibbs
HF: Fisher, Kennedy, Waite
F: Betts, Fevola, Koutoufides
Foll: Ackland, Stevens, Bentick
Int: Blackwell, McLaren, Jackson, Flint

How does that look? Any chance of beating Richmond?

Plenty of youth to work with.

:? I think you find Carrazzo, Sandington (on preseason training form), Houlihan, Wiggins, Lappin and Russell (some commitments have been make predraft) in team - Yeah still good youth and a wicked forward line, improving midfield - backs still a concern in defending and building up play.

After his showing on Hall in rd 22 this year, I'd start Santy on the Dummy Spitter.

It looks incomplete. I am waiting for the last pick of the PSD before any team can be put together  Eddie Betts played a stack of games in his first year.

Points for initiative but barring injury there is NO WAY Lappin, Wiggins and Houlihan won't be in the team...somewhat staggering that so many teams posted on here in recent weeks have omitted Houlihan. Whether people like it or not, he is definitely in our best 18 as it stands

Anyone else got a wood over that centre line?

Emer: Zantuck (he's all we need  )

-Give Setanta a shot at the big fag.
-Russell should get a go.
-Thornton must play CHB. We won't win if Lance isn't playing in the forward line.
- Hartlett as a back up for Richo
- Kouta can limber up on the pine for at least a quarter.

I reckon we'd win with a fully fit team like this......and no, Houla isn't in our best 22, sorry

Wouldn't take any notice of those people. Heard it all year. They were only wrong 22 times out of 22! And they said he'd be traded.

Pretty much the same squad but I’ve got Jake in the forward pocket instead of Jacko (who is extremely stiff to still be a rookie) at this stage IMO.
Jackson, Raso, Lappin, Carrazzo, Bannister, Hartlett, Wiggins all unlucky to miss.

B. Flint Thornton Walker
HB. Scotland O’hAilpin Whitnall Bower
C. Gibbs Stevens Simpson
HF. Fisher Kennedy
F. Betts Fevola Edwards

R. Ackland Bentick Murphy

Int. Koutoufides Blackwell McLaren Waite

Plenty of skill & class and at last we don’t have to play (carry) players who wont put their bodies on the line for their team mates when required. Those one or two players will have to prove themselves worthy with the Ants. :-D

Go Blues!!!

What I did was take away all the players named in the Round 1 Ants side thread to see who was left, and the above 22 players were the result.

In my opinion Houlihan is an automatic selection, but that wasn't what this exercise was about.

Joey sounds as though he's gunna be great but he needs time to sort his kicking out apparently ...gunna be one of my favourites :-D

Harts needs some ACTUAL gametime I reckon. First few games in the Ants then BANG! into the seniors when the inevitable injuries start occurring

Agree, Agree, Agree. Surely Houla won't be in our best side next year?

In fact, I see a number losing their spots to players returning from injury and recruits. Don't be surprised to see more than one new ND kid other than Gibbs given the call early. I reckon that Hampson will be the bench ruck to support Ackland.

Assuming we end up with 44 players on the list, I split them up into 2nds and 1sts.

Anyway this is my 2nds side first:

Back.....Lappin...Austin...Saddington

Hbck.....Anderson...Flint....Teague

Cent.....Benjamin...Grigg...Bannister

Hfor.....Houlihan...Hartlett....Fisher

Forw.....Raso...A O’hAilpin...Wiggins

Ruck.....McLaren...PSD 17...Carrazzo

Inter.....RP 1....RP 2....RP 3....RP 4

And now for my starting Senior 22:

Back.....Russell...Thornton...Scotland

Hbck.....Walker....Bower.....O’hAilpin

Cent.....Simpson...Murphy...Stevens

Hfor.....Gibbs......Whitnall......Waite

Forw.....Betts...Fevola...Koutoufides

Ruck.....Ackland...Bentick...Blackwell

Inter.....Hampson..Kennedy..Edwards..Jackson

Brizzy, firstly you've got Grigg playing in the centre AND Ruckrover.

Secondly you've got Jacko in the seniors when he is still just a rookie.

Fixed, I had 5 on the bench!

If Jacko is the nominated Rookie then he can play Seniors without a LTI.

On the 12/10 rule: Only if playing finals or non aligned team like Frankston or Port!

Obviously some of our guys would miss out to accommodate a bunch of Bullants players like: Crow, Vansittart, Harford, Morrell, Young
Frankie Raso, Bronick Davies, etc.

i reckon if Walker dosent go well in rounds 1 and 2 he should be dropped into the seconds. he was very inconsistent last year and i hope he is not this year
