I have attended most training sessions this year including sessions back in January and I must say I'm pretty dissapointed with the way they are conducted.

I have very rarely seen any one on one contesting work. Most sessions are the same. Two teams placing no pressure on each other moving the ball from one end of the ground to the other end no pressure at all. Hence all the great training reports on this site. There is no bloody pressure of course we can all hit a traget.

After most sessions many players stay back for goal kicking practice. Not one of our coaching staff stay out to oversee the goal kicking. Last Thursday I would say we kicked one goal for every 5 shots taken from about 35-40 metres out. Not once have I seen a coach talk to a player and help him with his kicking. Walker misses many shots at goal so he decides to go close to the boundary and try to kick the impossible whilst other players in the goal square laugh and joke around.

To me the training sessions are not conducted under any real pressure.

When will someone help Walker with his dissposal
When will someone teach Houlahan to put his BODY in and take a hit for a team mate.
When will some one teach Sporn to hit a Carlton Team mate

I attend at least one open session a week and a mate of mine, not a Carlton Supporter thought last weeks session was really poor and I would have to agree.

Yeah make it enjoyable but cut out the crap and I'm sure for 1 hour the boys can be focused. Tired of watching Fev joking and laughing around and some of the other players try the impossible.

No wonder we are struggling.

If what is suggested by some of the regular training watchers on here is true, then it the "leaders" of the club aren't helping to set the tone right either.

I think we need training for getting pissed off. The only guy that shows any emotion that he is unhappy with whats going on is T Bird..
The others fall behind the Kouta Whitnall and Campo philosohpy of its only a game...

there is no leadership. Noone to draw a line in the sand and say enough is enough!!! No more Mr nice guy....

Piss off the clowns and bring in someone with the required attitude.
Why should Denis and the coaches have to stay back to oversea goalkicking practise.. That should be the domain of the leadership group.
Whitnall called a few of them back during the week for goal kicking practise.
Id like to see them turn training into bonding.. with the older players staying back with the kids.. its a were too good for you attitude.
not getting anywhere with that....

Pagan shouldnt have to hold Koutas and Lances hand...

Although I am surprised because I understood that Pagan was a strong beliver in you play how you train. He controls training.

have we reached the point where Pagan says - ok we did the positive stuff, it worked for a while, but its time to move on - no more Mr nice guy.

His demeanour in the press conference was just soooo calm... It was scary.

How come I was only one of a handful to note this?

Have to remember that a lot of 'training' during the week occurs in the rooms prior to match day, hence us not being able to see it.

Pagan goes through all of his intentions to the players behind closed doors and what we see on the training track is only a by-product of this.

I do agree that on occasion the boys are a little laconic in their approach. And that it wouldn't hurt to see them go at it a little harder.

I suspect this might be the case for this weeks training though... :roll:
