I understand that not all sessions are open for the public however our man sessions are pathetic. Turnovers and no real game pressure. Players running up and down the groung still making mistakes under no real pressure. I attend most training sessions and I can't recall the last time we did any work under real game pressure. James Bartel mentioned on radio after the game how they practice tackling, disposing the ball whilst being tackled and staying on their feet whilst being tackled. Anyone who watched tonights game would have noticed how many times the Geelong players broke tackles, disposed of the ball whilst being tackled and how they managed to stay on their feet. Despite being less talented the two main areas of improvement must be in our dispossal and tackling. Our dispopsal is shithouse, we rarely hit a target more than 30 metres away. For CHRIST sake Dennis the players must train under real game pressure. Most can hit a target under no presssure. Someone told me once that you play the way you train and anyone that attends training will see that we rarely train under real pressure and we do very little tackling practice. It's more like circle work and even then we can't hit targets - what hope have we got if you can't hit a target in circle work. Not good enough. Our turnovers absolutely kill us week to week. We all run forward then all of a sudden we can't hit a target 30 meters away and the ball rebounds and our backs are made to look like fools. |

We play the way we train. Except of course when we actually train well. ![]() |
