Post subject:  Congratulations to the club and supporters
Putting the game to one side for the moment, the send off today is something we should all be proud of and fitting for our club and its rich history.

The pre game formalities with past players and family members carrying our premeirships cups was magnificent. The passing of the match ball from Kouta to Nicholls was very emotional with big Nick holding the ball aloft at the players race.

Congratulations to all the supporters who stayed and sang the song at the end of the game.

My thoughts especially for some of the 30 y.o. plus supporters is that we are very lucky to follow this club. Could you imagine if StKilda tried to follow our pre game format? It would have lasted 30 seconds.

Well done to all. A fitting fairwell, pity most of the players could not follow Kouta's lead.

I serioulsy cried when i watched Kouta pick up that ball!

I love Kouta! He is my hero. My Idol. My Inspiration. My Captain.

To know that he will forever be remembered as the last Captain of the greatest Football club of all time to lead Carlton off an oval with 109 proud years of history behind it is an honour.

Keep your brownlow. Forget the MVP. 2 x AA means nothing! Kouta, regardless of what people think, has always been a champion, but is now officially one of the Carlton Greats!

I musta been in the wrong place

The stuff before the game was silly if not boring. Please tell me that didnt take 12 mths to work out.

There should have been a thing for children in the same vain as the sheedy masks the week before.

The kids are the future adult supporters give them something.

Just flown back in from Melbourne.Ignoring the result if you really were not impressed with the pre and post game function then you are extremely hard to please.

I have seen 8 Premierships and countless other memorable moments, but what the Club put on today will remain forever.
To my mind the finale was the most emotional thing that i have witnessed as a Blues follower...

The Club should be congratulated. I could not hold back the tears towards the end. Living in New York, I don't know when I will get to another game, but yesterday was worth the visit even if the end result was disappointing. We have been blessed to have so many champion players and people. The emotion and tribute at the end of the game could not be manufactured. We all bleed blue and the passions run deep. It's one of things I miss most about not living in Melbourne. I thought the tribute did the navy blue legacy very proud. As Synbad put it in another thread, now let's look forward to the brave new world!

A thing that must be mentioned re yesterdays presentation was that it was done WITHOUT any AFL assistance.
The Lords in their Ivory tower can see fit to promote Community rounds etc but were unwilling to support the end of Suburban Football.

Who gives a rats about them.We did'nt need them!.Pity that creep Evans was allowed anywhere near the place! :twisted:

I thought eh day was great, very emotional.

Sitting next to Dan and all his crap about an extended family at Carlton sort of dawned on me, that although we're very different we have actually chosen to be together on this point. So my family, keep true! Yes, even you Surrey!

i was so proud of the club yesterday in the way they treated the day, it was full of emotion everyone was riding the same wave before the game, we all felt as one that we belong.

But does anyone feel as if the soul has been ripped out of Carlton? it could take time to rebuild everything on field, off field and the Carlton spirit.

Must admit, at the end of the game when they started playing the Boccelli/Brightman song and the PA called up a sheepish looking Kouta to the middle of the ground, I was squirming to myself: "What's all this crap then? This better not be embarrasing...". The feeling only lasted a few seconds though.

Kouta picked up the match day ball, ever so humbly held it aloft and waved goodbye to all parts of the ground and all our fans for the very last time. And then when our last Princes Park captain handed it over to probably our greatest ever, and most revered, player and affectionately embraced him I must admit it was impossible to hold it back. First time I've cried over anything to do with football. I watched, as I saw a player I never got to see play, holding the Remnant of our last ever Home Game, to a guard of honor and standing ovation. It really hit me at that moment, what a proud history we have and what a privelege it is to be a Blues supporter.

It was very fitting and touching farewell. They couldn't have done the Final Act any better IMO! Well done to all those involved!

Agree with the sentiments.

Mind you the moment for me was the improptu from the Pratt stand at the 24 minute mark, when the song was stanrted in the terraces and picked up through the stand. We knew we weren't going to get to sing it after- so we sang it anyway.

It was a great farewell.
