What a preposterous thread - apart from the original post. How can you watch that game and not agree that Teague was pantsed? He was dragged in the third quarter, c'mon people, I know we all love him but he was clearly beaten.

I agree that Teague has been worked out, but Robbo has kicked 6 against Teague 2 games in a row now, surely that would tell Teague that he needed to play tight this round?

Agreed. Robertson did the same on him in the pre-season though, just one of those matchups that looks like it should work but doesnt. next time hopefully we've got another plan in action?

Not sure about your other two posts, but this is easily the worst of them. Teague plays a team game. When the midfield aren't doing their job and waves of opposition players stream forward Teague, being the selfless team player he is, is prepared to move off his man to try and intercept the attack. His value as the 3rd man up is immense given out lack of quality talls down back. It didn't pay off yesterday, but I guarentee that he stops more attacks than not. Fix the loose checking midfielders and Teague won't need to be covering them. Same thing happened the weekbefore vs Geelong, Teague and Wiggins having to leave their men to cover.

Agree with many of your comments, TruBlueBrad. But having said that, Teague does have some deficiencies. He's really a very short key position player. And not surprisingly he struggles with talented talls. He also struggles with anyone who has some pace. Long-term it'll be interesting to see where he fits in. I'd like to see them develop him in some alternate roles, because opposition sides have worked out how to exploit him, and he needs to develop some flexibility. I'd like to see them give him the occasional run in the centre square, where he can use his hard body and desperation to help with clearances. I'd also like to see him occasionally play as a marking forward. He's got some similarities to Hicky, I reckon.

Teague would be exceptional if allowed to play as a loose man in defence, but with our lack of defensive options he's being forced to play on a taller or quicker opponent almost every week.

Also wouldn't mind seeing him played in bursts in the centre, he came to the kangaroo's as a Centreman. At least we'd get a contest in there when Kouta os off the ball.

How can you trash Teague? The man is asked to play a position he is not physically capable of and busts his arse week in and week out... We need a 6'4" backman or two now! And by now, I mean this season!

Teague had a ripper year last year despite his shortcomings - he is very slow, lacks real class and is not overly tall (the fact that he won our B&F last year was an indictment of our list almost of the McKernan 2002 B&F win proportions). However you gotta love Teague. He is extremely courageous and mostly a team player.

Teagues value will come into the side more when we have a couple of real talls and some speed. Hes excellent at coming across to help spoil opponents. Reads the ball well and has a heap of courage. there will always be a spot for Teague in the side. If Norman Russell and Livo could hold down spots he would be a crucial piece to a great defence.

I still cant understand why norman isnt in the team - it certainly isnt on form - he is a perfect match up for robertson, and would have allowed teague to play on a worse player and tf freed him up to assist everyone else. Teague is a great player when he is not playing on a gun, so we need to understand that and use him to his best abilities. I dont like bagging pagan, but there has been about 3 games this year where we have no back ups in the backline should things not go our way. The inclusion of morrell helps i think as he is flexible as to where he plays- the same goes for norman.

He backed himself to help out. Surely you saw the Melbourne on-ballers streaming forward into space because our on-ballers don't play defensively at all, when Teague went to intercept he got exposed. You're right that he was soundly beaten, but given the circumstances its either Robertson kicks 6 or Robertson kicks 3-4 and the on-ballers have an extra 3-4 between them.

Pagan would have backed Teague to redeem himself against Robertson after last time..didnt work...but you have to back your players sometime. Robertson is too quick and athletic for Teague. We dont have enough variety in our defense to be able to handle every type of player...smaller marking forwards worry us and until we get the right players for the right jobs we have to give make do with what we have... Melbourne just had too many players that require tagging and we ran out of numbers...

The most disappointing thing about Teague's game for mine was the turnovers. At times, he was clearly rattled and couldn't even connect properly with the football. Like a few others, he seems to have lost all confidence. As Elwood points out, we all know his limitations and a fast forward is always going to find him out.

Teague is not happy at the club, i posted this info 2 weeks ago and got crucified for this just adds further weight to my comments and backs it up, he is not happy with some of his team mates and things that go on down at the club.
