http://carltonfc.com.au/season2008/news ... wsid=72190 Living in Hamilton as a kid, Denis Zeunert was my hero - being an ex carlton player who coached Hamilton Imperials in the 60's after his Blues career. My dad was reserves coach at Imperials at the time and we spent a bit of time at the Zeunert household. Apart from being a real dasher as a player he was very much a role model. He kept himself extremely fit and led by example on and off the field. Fond memories of a great player and person. Rest in Peace Denis. |

Remember watching Denis play when I was a kid . Great half back flanker . We had a pretty good defence in those days and Denis always seemed to be one of our best players as I remember it . Still got his autograph somewhere . |

RIP I was too young to see Denis Zeunert in action, but I remember his son, Ian, running around in our 2's for a fair while. Best wishes to his family and friends in their time of grief. |

Career summary in stats: http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... +D+Zeunert 3 Top 5 B&F performances in 7 years of top level football is an outstanding outcome. 2 second placings shows how good Zeunert was. As for Ian, you can follow a link to Ian in the Blueseum version of the article. From the Blueseum |

As you do when you think of a great player and one of your favourites, my Dad's eye lit up when he described Zeunert about ten year's ago. Mentioned that Zeunert was a tough player and a magnificent long kick who once nailed a long goal from the half back flank at Princes Park. RIP. Dennis Commetti and Bruce McAvaney might have mentioned Zeunert as one of the best Z's to play footy if they had better people doing their research. |
