What will it mean to you to see Carlton playing finals footy this year?? To me - it's been 8 very long, long years that have included an awful lot of pain.. To maintain the passion, the desire.. and dare I say it, the love for my Club, for my team for the duration has, as many here will testify been tough going - to a degree... I'd like to think that some of it's been instinctive but like many of you here can boast, I'm so proud to have stayed true to the end! It's not a done deal, it's not guaranteed, but geeze, if I'm right... when the final siren sounds at around 4:45pm Eastern, 29 August 2009, or maybe a week or two earlier if things are going really well I hope that I'll stop and pause a moment and reflect on all that we've gone through since that fateful day against Richmond in '01 against the Tiges. Kouta did his bloody knee again of course - if ever there was a sign of tough times ahead, surely that was it! I'll call it - I reckon we're in for the final 8 this year. It's not a big call by any standard, but it'll be from here on in that I'll be making the claim amongst the footy officialianados I have to deal with on a day to day and week by week basis including you lot!! Who's with me?? Who'll put there flower sacks on the line and start claiming a finals spot this year ![]() And as the newly weds said to each other in the thin walled, crowded hotel room on their honeymoon night... |

A few more beers, more yelling at the tv, and additional hours on TC. My manager has no idea how much more productive I could be without access to this site ? ![]() |

There are certain times in one's life that you will always remember. No matter how old and frail you get These memories will be engraved forever Some will never forget their wedding or the birth of a 1st or 5th child and for most it's that first time when you and a girl got wild While people can go and enjoy these moments And celebrate them with joy and cheers For me it's a different story It's breaking of a drought lasting 8 bloody years There are certain times in one's life that you will always remember. For me, it's when i line up for those tickets To watch the Blues play in f*cken September THEY BETTER KNOW WE'RE COMING!!! CARN THE BAGGERS |

Kevin Sheedy believes Richmond can win the flag. I agree. This year, competition is pretty even and a few injuries to key players for Hawthorn & Geelong and they have a sniff. I believe we are in a similar position. The flag is wide open this year and I don't expect us to win it but I do believe that anything is possible. I do however expect us to play at least 1 game in September this year. We should hit every game like it is our last this season and who knows what the outcome will be, |

It will mean: * an end to yarping * revenge against COllingwood and Essendon* fans * a continuation of the argument that Freo is a 15th rate Club lucky to be in the top 16 Clubs in the land * Being on the front foot again * We could actually highlight the Pagan years as a rebuilding era rather than the wasteland we all know it to be. * perhaps even a slight positive on the Smorgon years! * Being on the front foot again * Even if Richmond do well, an end to their constant yarping * Continual laughs at Essendon*, for even if they make the 8, they haven't had to fight the influence of the pagan years not draft penalties * being on the front foot again * Laughing at any / all of the Vic clubs who miss the 8 It will mean a hell of a lot and I for one can't wait until Round 22, 2009 when I can laugh in the face of the dickwad supporters who never had our Majestic 3 (Gibbs, Murph, Krooze), our Captain, stuck by Fev, never looked forward to Jamo, never understood how good our Rookies could be in time. We're coming. Can't wait. |

Never been to a finals game, been offered to go to finals involving other clubs but I chose to save my finals virginity until Carlton play. I used to like footy as a kid but rarely went to games until I was about 11-12 when dad would take me down to princess park a fair bit. So basically by the time I was a Carlton/footy fanatic we we're entering the worst period in our history. Not a nice thing, but I still went week in week out by the time I was about 13-14. To me, finals would make all the pain of the last 7 years go away. |

Rich (aka Bluey 95) I think you know where I sit in relation to Carlton. For those of you that don't I was at our local (the Eastlake football club Canberra) last season to watch most games on the "Big Screen". There was one match in particular, which still gets me emotional. It was one of our famous comeback wins of last year. The game was against Port Adelaide which was for the most part a scrappy affair due to the rainy conditions. I experienced extreme frustration for the first three quarters of that game (I think my expletives are still echoing in the walls of the club!). Then came the last quarter, with the Blues down by at least 5 goals if I remember correctly..... Final Quarter, and the boys came out, the bounce was laid, and then suddenly the motor began to start! It was like Jekyll and Hyde. The boys showed a bit too much Jekyll for my liking to that point. Then suddenly they showed their Hyde and turned into a completely different unit. The expletives which had been so prominent from my mouth to that point started to dissuade into an elmost eerie silence. The creases on my forehead which had seemed to be ingrained from the frustration of what had past became non existent. The beer which was tasting like nails previously begain to taste like "gold". I was jumping out of my chair, but not through dissappointment. It was like I wanted a surreal experience, and tried to get closer to the screen (the ground in my surreal state). I was excited, and my screams were no longer of frustration but of an immense passion for our team , the Carlton Football Club! The final bell sounded, and the mighty Blues had done their Houdini act once again, and got up to win that game. I turned to another loyal Blues Supporter (and you know who you are) and I was totally speechless, I had tears streaming down my face but I can never ever remember feeling more happier than I had to that point. I gave the supporter a big "man hug" and blurted something out which probably resembled complete jibberish. To this day I can't really describe what that meant to me, and what THIS CLUB still means to me. Now we enter the promise and expectation of season 2009. What do I hope? What do I expect? Its hard to quantify, however if I can have a similar feeling to that moment I have described above again, then I think thats all I can ask. But in a nutshell, "THEY KNOW WERE COMING" GO BLUES!!!!! |

Un-ban a few of the banished and let some 'colourful' views be expressed (however wrong or right they may be) here again and let this place live again. To me, playing finals again would make for a much more interesting September as they've been as boring as hell the last 7 years. |

Finishig 5th to 8th will mean @#$%&! all to me. Those matches (5th v8th 6th v 7th) are a waste of time. If we finished 5th to 8th and won getting in the last 6 would mean something. Half the teams making the finals cheapens the finals. Go back to the finall 4 |

Good post ![]() That particular weekend I'd spent watching my son in a basketball tournament and consequently was almost over sport for the weekend. It didn't overly bother me that I missed the start of the game, and started watching fairly impassively (for me). At 3/4 time I felt the score did not reflect where we should have been in the match. The last quarter was like watching someone who has been trying to master a skill or routine, failing over and over again and then suddenly it clicks and it just all came together. Me and the kids were high fiving and dancing around the lounge room. |
