Post subject:  Ken Hands inducted into the hall of fame
Ken Hands has been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Congratulations to Ken and his family. He is already a Carlton legend but I reckon we should start a campaign to get him up to AFL legend status :twisted: . At least he made his club's team of the century :wink:

Well done to Ken Hands, a great honour indeed.

There are a few very interesting stories from some of the old timers about the tumultuous days when Hands and Francis were vying for the coaching position at Carlton in the late 1950s.

His on field presence and leadership was second to none.
Captained a Victorian team that included legends: Barassi, Whitten, Aylett aand others.

There are plenty of Carlton greats that aren't in the hall of fame. Many of these will make it at some point

I had one brief encounter with Ken Hands at the footy. Standing in front of the Social Club, I was angrily
disputing an umpiring decision.
A voice behind me said, ''No, that's the correct decision''.

As I turned, blurting out the words ''Bullshit it is'', I found I was in dispute with one Ken Hands.

Stunned, I then blurted out, ''Jesus.........Ken Hands, I'm not arguing with you''. A comment , judging
by the amount of laughter from those in the immediate vicinity, amused others greatly. But only deepened
my enbarrassment.

At the final siren, (we won) I felt a pat on the shoulder, turned, and a smiling Ken Hands said, '' You can
relax now son, the good guys win again''.
