Is anybody else sick to death of the "mates" sharing the ball with themselves?..

I am talking about Houla,Fevola and Lappin in particular.I thought it was all about kicking to advantage.Too often work and space created by the young blokes is not being honoured in favour of a pass to a "mate" under pressure.

Check out the last quarter, twice Fevola takes possession with plenty of time and both time kicks to Lappin ,double teamed and under pressure!

Dumb football!

Excuse the thread title.I realise that today, Waxing has taken on a whole new meaning from when i played kick to kick.

I'd agree with that 7D. Wondering if Pagan's comments about lack of quality kids to help the senior players has had something to do with the mindset of sneior players?

This is another reason as to why our youngsters aren't showing much as people would like. Firstly they need to compete for limited game time, and secondly they need to win the ball themselves as the senior guys don't have the confidence to use them in space.

Look at Brisbane for an example of team football. Matthews instills confidence in his youngsters and the senior chore follow suit.

I saw the Lappin one...wasnt aware of players waxing just thought it was poor decision making but I will be watching over the next few games.
I would like to think the coach would be onto that type of thing and discount cheap possies from mates when reviewing stats...

Geez the things I don't look for at the footy...I'd never even dream of looking for something like this.

Is it possible Fev looks for the two of the better disposer's in the team? Fev's field kicking is also quite good, and obviously as our FF they're always going to be looking for him.

I have no doubt their friendship's off the field help, but I'd also say that you can explain it otherwise.

Good pick up 79V. Agree the older more experienced players tend to ignore their young inexperienced teamates. How many times have you seen the Campo/Kouta/Stevo handoffs??

Ahh, Wax On, Wax Off Daniel Son....

I remember the last quarter when Fev kicked it to Lappin with Goodes in front of him while Whitnall was the first option free in the forward line....

They won't pass to Whitnall.
They must want him traded. Synbad has something to do with this, I'm sure. :P

Is there an element of truth to this? Players kicking to their mate Fevola rather than Whitnall? Might help explain why Whitnall hasn't been getting near the ball.

There was quite a bronx cheer when Lappin finally kicked it to Lance on the wing. He had been free a couple of times earlier in the same position and Skinny ignored him and went to contest instead. :?

You would expect this sort of thing in Junior Football - but as that seems to be our current standard at the moment I am hardly surprised.

I wouldn't say that there deliberatly not going to the younger blokes, i'd say there mind works like this. "OK, there's Davies, @#$%&!, mans on him, only has a couple metres on him" And then... "Ah, there's Skinny, he's man's there but he's got a couple metres and will probably beat him."

Can remember comment from Waite after the Hawthorn game (Fev suspended) that they rarely kicked it to him.
