Post subject:  Pagans 2005 player turnover! Who will survive?

During Pagans reign has coach the turnover has been HUGE however although I think we have a better team than the 02 squad.
I suspect we will have another large turnover this year. By attaining recycled players Pagan created a quick fix to stay competitive!
In order to move to the next level we to cut certain players and give the younger kids more of a go. It may be 10 weeks early to speculate but hear is my list on who will make it and who won’t!

Jordon Bannister - Tries hard but isn’t good enough to stay on our list for the reason that he is at his prime and cannot improve any more. Delist

Adam Bentick - Is a ball magnet in the twos and is still developing! Struggles in the 1sts however he is playing in a very competitive position where many larger blokes are playing against him. Will take time but I suspect hell make it.

Eddie Betts - Still very young and is an excitement machine. Shows he can kick great goals and I can see him playing more as a HFF soon. Will be inconsistent but will be a good contributor in the future.

Luke Blackwell - Haven’t seen much of him, but of heard he is similar to Bentick. Is young and needs time to develop.

Glen Bowyer - In my opinion will be gone by the end of the season. He doesn’t take his chances in these 1sts and has never shown glimpses of being able to hold a regular starting position. Delist

Chris Bryan - Hard to say from 1 great game! From what I saw he will help French Heaps in the Ruck and can then continue after French retires if he puts in displays similar to Sydney’s.

Scott Camporeale - Despite the criticism he gets! I think he has been a good servant for club and has still got a few years left in him. In the future he should play on the forward flank and relieve the followers during parts the game.

Andrew Carrazzo - A ball magnet, needs help on his decision making and kicking effectiveness but is a natural playmaker and I expect him to play more of a midfield role in the future.

Callum Chambers - Not sure because has always injured, he is an athlete but will never be a star. Will play for Carlton next year though

David Clarke - Gone (I don’t think I need explaining) DELIST

Justin Davies: Shows glimpses of brilliances, still inconsistent but has potential. Give the forward line and bit of diversity and danger. Should be there next year.

Adrian DeLuca - Can take great contested mark but also drops the easiest ones. Adds depth and will never be a star so im not 100% sure.

Brendon Fevola: Indispensable! Can Mark, Kick, Promotes the club! Only disadvantages are that he is inconsistent but it’s not like he gets good delivery in50!

Bradley Fisher - Great contested marks been injured so it’s hard to see him develop. In a forward line I think you can only have Deluca or fisher. Id think Fisher would edge out DeLuca

Barnaby French - Not a star around the ground but tries hard and knows how to ruck. Hell is there next year.

Adam Hartlett - Heard good things eg WOOF. Haven’t seen him but needs time.

Ryan Houlihan - Cannot play a defensive role but is helpful in attack. Should be played forward or traded!

Brett Johnson - Wont make it because he’s disposal isn’t good enough and threes allot of competition for his position. DELIST

Anthony Koutoufides - GUN! Should play forever, why retire when you’re still the best?

Matthew Lappin - Great utility/ playmaker! Can be relied on to do any job but excludes playing in the ruck lol

Luke Livingston - Will not be a star but handy in the Backline will play next year

Troy Longmuir - Why did we get him! Should be gone next year i doubt it though. DELIST

Cory Mcgragh - adds depth but isn’t the greatest of players. Too many similar players to his role meaning he is replaceable! Id DELIST

Didby Morrell - Also adds depth but he can play KP and should be kept because he is a utility and can use the footy effectively.

Karl Norman - Doesn’t look like he is keen enough to play AFL and is inconsistent/ and not a team player. I would delist him

Ian Prendergast - Been given so many opportunities and part of the leadership group but isn’t up to the standard to play AFL. delist

Anthony Raso - Long term project, too early too judge

Jordon Russell - Very quick but haven’t heard a lot. Should be given every opportunity and shouldn’t be rushed

Heath Scotland - Been playing shocking this year but has classy skills. Should be kept or else Collingwood would prob try get him back.

Kade Simpson - Great Skills but he needs to be so much faster and heavier. Knows how to play and should be given another go because he will develop later than the others.

Trent Sporn - From the 1 game against Hird he hasn’t exactly set the world alight. Been on the list for a number of years and hasn’t shown enough to stay on the list. DELIST

Nick Stevens - Also indispensable greats skills and next Capt. of Carlton

David Tegue - Adds strength to the backline and has immense courage. Will be part of the 2006 team

Bret Thornton - TBird holds the defence each week. Will be a 10 yr player for Carlton

Jarrad Waite - . Still young and inconsistent however he is exciting to watch and will be the next Kouta... (No high expectations though)

Andrew Walker - Shows glimpses of deserving the number 1 jersey. Still young and I really hope he turns out to be a freak after all the bias write-ups I hear. Should be a 10 yr player

Lance Whitnall - Im sick of waiting for CONSISTANT form. Everyone knows he can play but for a leader im sick of guessing to see which Whitnall will play (the good o bad). Unless he shows form in the next 10 weeks id trade him. At least we won’t have to stay wondering and holding he team back. I say trade! if doesnt show consistancy

Simon Wiggins - Will run into a brick wall if his coach instructed him too but isn’t good enough to play at senior level because he is too slow, disposals aren’t that great and has been given plenty of chances. Delist

What do all think of my early forecasting? agree? disagree or even agree to disagee

I think there might already be a thread about this.

Mods can we sticky a thread about who's going to be sacked/de-listed/traded so we don't end up with pages of these tiresome (pointless?) threads?

maybe keep B.Johnson for one more year and give players like Bentick & Blackwell more time to mature, but other than that i cant see any reason to keep any of those players i highlighted.

I know i know i said Heath Scotland, but for me, i thought he was good last year, but he has been terrible this year and has no defensive game at all.

Dont think we will get much for any of them either :(

Welcome to TC Fabulous.

I also think the heat's on the likes of Clarke, Karl , Bannister and one or two others to perfom over the remaining weeks of this season.
Dennis will do the right thing when it's time.

Thats a pretty fair summation Fabulous, although i think you might find that Dennis will give another chance to a few of the younger ones who have yet to really establish themselves, such as sporn and wiggins. We need to find out which players can take us forward.

Would keep:
Longmuir - haven't really seen what he can do, but has shown a bit in the twos in the last couple of weeks - May become part of midfield rotation after what he's done in the Ants recently.

McGrath - Goes hard, has reasonable skills and gets possesions, worth persisting with.

Norman - Will always look better with TBird and Livo beside him(which we didn't seen in first half of the year. Would like to see him in the 1's for 2nd half baring injury then make the call. Guy's with this sort of talent and height don't grow on trees.

I thought Wiggins has good pace and clean hands - disposal is directly related to his confidence - much like any other player.
