Now lets see.

Finish last, pick no1 and 2 in draft = 2 ready mades - for the midfield to help Stevens, (hopefully) koutas swansong year.

ppd no 1 - best uncontracted defender for chb. - to help Livo Thornton Teague and Carazzo

plus pick no 17 (approx).

Russell and Hartlett debuts sometime in 2006,

Bryan and French in - Bryan spending a bit of time in defence but swapping with Barney in the ruck.

Forward line - Waite OHailpin and Fevola

Havent filled all the spots in, but Id say that starting to look like a much better football team than we have now...

No financial inducement anywhere Camelboy, still (& always) on a volunteer basis.

Actually, having time to think some more about the article, I realised that a lot of our late picks were in 2002/3. Because of the draft penalties - we wouldn't have used them had we still had picks 1, 2, 31, 34 and so on, would we?

Also, what were traded players counted as? I'm assuming blokes like Teague, Morrell were counted as rookies, so why wasn't David Clarke counted as father/son?

1. Yes, but we couldn't exactly write an article all about how the AFL pantsed us, could we? Thanks for reading between the lines and getting to the point!
2. It was all based on original draftp ositions. I tried to exclude all the draft no. of father sons but completely forgot about David Clarke. He mustn't be at the forefront of my mind when it comes to Carlton, funny about that.

They said they got an email from Mike and Dan, and pretty much read out most of the article. Agreed that stats didn't mean that much, when looking at average ages, heights, etc. Said we had suffered at the draft.
I think they were impressed with the research.

Didn't get anything from me! And Dan isn't available at the moment.... must have been someone at the Club. Now that feels good though, very impressed. I've finally made it (on to a bankrupt radio station?)
