I dont see David Teague as a midfielder...too slow and his kicking isnt great..Be interested to see if Jonothan Brown spends some time in the middle again for Brisbane....maybe Prenda might have to run with Brown if he does...

Noticed that during the match against Sydney, especially in the second quarter, David Teague started a few times in the centre square after a goal was kicked. I thought that this was interesting as it's something that we probably don't see very much of. Is this a case of Denis trying to freshen him up a little bit?

I know that Teague went into defence eventually but I thought having Teague start in the middle on several occasions was intriguing. Personally I don't really see Teague as a midfielder but then we're struggling to find good matchups for him as a defender and his own form is down on last season. So whilst I think the idea of experimenting with him a bit is good I wonder if it is something that will continue to be employed by Denis in future games.

Is Russell Robertson not Teague's size?

He is a tremendously courageous player but he has some quite serious limitations.

He lacks pace which means he cannot play on small forwards like Carazzo can. His disposal isn't fantastic over long distances, he is of that awkward neither-here-nor-there size. If you are that size you have to be mobile enough to play midfield. That's why I think Pagan is trying him out to see if he can make it as a clearance player.

Great season last year and no one can doubt his courage but has a pretty poor year this year being objective- I suspect the coach was trying something different with him by playing him in the middle - was on the bench for a lot of saturday

Came to North Melbourne as a midfielder, but is probably a little slow and disposal not quite good enough to play there regularly, but as part of a rotation to add a little hardness would be good. I think you need to look at Geelong's midfield where most of their guys can either go forward or back, Milburn and Corey swapping onball and HBF is probably the classic example. Ablett, Chapman and Johnson can all have a run on the ball.

I'd still put Thornton on him - I reckon he might have the engine to go with him.

Maybe Teague could go with him in the midfield. You'd imagine that unless you match him up with a similar sized player he's just going to drift forward...kinda like we do with Kouta Teague or Prenda are about our only options.

My Sister spoke to Teaguey last weekend after the Adelaide game, he said he feels the coach is unhappy with him and he (Teague) thinks he might get a run in the Bullan ts soon, i feel sorry for the guy, i dont think in his Carlton career has he ever played on someone his size, and he gives 150% when he is winning or getting toweled, love Teaguey, he is the first guy i would pick, he wants to wear the blue jumper.

Gorgeous Teaguey just doesn't have the legs to be positioned in the midfield (as far as athleticism is concerned - I think I have already sufficiently established my own personal view of his physical characteristics - 'wink, wink, nudge, nudge'). I also feel that perhaps T-Bird was a better match for Hall as Big Bad Bustling Barry kept somehow worming his way away from the sexy blonde bombshell (Teague) and taking possession of the ball himself. On the other hand, I do believe that anyone who wishes to place Courageous Dave in the 2s ought to be shot. Sure, he makes some mistakes at times (what player doesn't? It sounds as though he often puts too much pressure on himself), yet each week he a makes a valuable contribution to the club and a concerted effort to be at the top of his game.

"Long-term it'll be interesting to see where he fits in. I'd like to see them develop him in some alternate roles, because opposition sides have worked out how to exploit him, and he needs to develop some flexibility. I'd like to see them give him the occasional run in the centre square, where he can use his hard body and desperation to help with clearances. DP does some strange things at times - Lance whitnal in the Ruck as well- I think he needs a 6 man bench - Teague has been beaten most weeks this year so why not try him in the middle he was probably just tagging a player. What i find more interesting is that last years Best and Fairest and the guy who should have been last years B&F are both sadly lacking in form this year

Well predicted, Stefchook Look I can see why Denis would give Teague a go in the middle but like others I don't think Teague will ever be a midfielder. I just thought that it was interesting to see Teague in the middle on the weekend and I'll be looking out for it again this week and in future. I also agree with those that say that Teague is at that awkward middle sort of height, i.e., not tall enough for KP but too big for the small forwards. Would it even be worth throwing him up forward once or twice and see how he goes? Sydney Blue, I too was surprised to see Lance in the ruck but it was either him or Prendergast with Bryan buggered. I would have gone with Prender and I'm not sure why Denis didn't do that.

Lance got us back in the game against Adelaide last year after being moved into the ruck so Denis probably thought it was worth trying

Love his courage (although seen much less this year compared to last) but his winning of the 2004 B&F clearly shows where we are at.
