OK, we are sitting on the bottom and well things are not going as well as we hoped at seasons start (The exception are those who are in love the the priority pick, then it is going fine and dandy). But still there are some good things happening at the club at the moment and this thread is here to highlight them. ( ie please no mentions of contracts, Campo, Whitnal et al) Some of our younger group are starting to step up, Carrazzo, Waite and Thornton come to mind, others are working hard to improve Betts and Walker. We may have to players that could be 'special' come into the squad permanently next year ie Setanta and Bryan (OK Bryan has played one game, but it was special) The financial side is now stablised and we are looking very good for a nice profit this year. We now have a stable and hard working administration that is not being distracted by rebel petitions, or never ending negative opinion pieces. The supporters are sticking 'fat' with memberships despite a now four season horror run with form. And just to keep the Priority Pick fetishers happy we can start getting excited about having our first real dip in the draft this year. |

I'm glad the financials are looking good. Good to see good corporate sponsors from good names in the corporate world (Optus, Subaru, Dan Murphys etc.) being onboard. Development of some of the younger players has been encouraging. |

well done mate i too think the club is a pretty psoitive place at the moment, which is why the negative feeling i get from TC is baffling me at the moment. Between one thing or another (TC crew, the club starting to make positive things happen etc..) this has been one of my favorite years of all time. still hate the AFL though ![]() |

I like to look at what can be done to fix a problem rather than saying "we're [REDACTED]' and looking for something or someone to blame. Sorta learnt that when my patrol was dropped off by helicopter 20k from our intended LZ and we had to 'bush bash' all night to make the rendezvous. "Just get on with it son, no use whinging" Agro ![]() |

Thanks BM. It has been doom and gloom lately hasn't it? I don't post much during the week but quickly scan through the posts regularly. For someone coming straight into any of the forums for the first time they would get a very quick impression that we are going no where fast! Yes it is hard to remain positive and not slip into the trap. For those of us who have supported Carlton for many years, we have been given so much pleasure and now it is time for the true supporter to hang tough, have some faith and support the club. This of course doesn't mean we can't express an opinion or two. Perhaps it is unrealistic to expect the comments to always be constructive so as always if you don't like it there is always the ultimate option. I will continue to support TC as it is a great place to celebrete all things Carlton. May it prosper! Go Blues! |

Surprised Rambo has not brought this up, but the Dan Murphy's logo looked great on the jumper, much better than the red logos we have had that have made us look like heart bleed and girly vaseline men with pansy. |

I like the fact Sandra Sully is a Blues girl and hasn't sold out to the Swans as some had suspected. That's a win off the field. |

ummm, i crap on about this in other threads but interest in the Blues is not only improving memberships but has also meant we have the #1 site (by traffic and unique visitors) of all the AFL / sportal websites, and have done so since November 2004. this is a big plus for a number of reasons: * website rights coming up at the end of 2006 - this puts us in a good position * proves our conversion level (fans to members) could still improve * keeps the club persisting with jokers like the Ghost, M&D and FG! |

I think another BIG plus this year has been a successful transition to a new home ground. The emotion aside from having to leave PP, TD has demonstrated that we have the capacity to draw much more favourable crowds. Add this to increased TV exposure.....and what will be improved revenues. We still have a long, long journey to make. But I always believe that the fundamentals of a successful footy team, is one that has a strong club administration behind it. Ours has been making some tough calls which will pay long term dividends. Good thread BM. |

Our membership is positive, most clubs struggling would not keep their membership as high as ours when their club struggles for years. Carlton will be back it might take 4 to 5 years, not 10 i hope. The last 8 years have been mistakes,ok we got in a Grand Final in 99 and made the finals a few years but the club really made some bad moves. Once the 7 or more players to leave this year, we will see the real rebuilding of the club as i believe this draft we really need to look hard at and not just go for trades and possible the next couple of drafts also. The club have a few there already in that 4-5 year plan in Waite,Thornton,Stevens,Houilhan and if Fevola get his act together along with the new recruits just need Fisher,Walker,Davies,Simpson and Bentick to step up and if O'halipan,Bryan,Deluca is in the plan time will tell. Carlton had no choice i guess to draft recycled players as they were kicked in the guts by the AFL for cheating but you see most of those players will be gone in the next few years,it already happen last year and will happen this year. |
