I know a lot of TCers have mixed feelings re JD and he does look laconic (or is that slow) approaching the ball, and others have criticised his tackling technique, but having just watched bits of saturday's game again I thought his tackling and desperation was outstanding. In one 15 minute period I reckon he put on 4 or 5 really heavy tackles. He may be a shade slow but there is a lot of upside in aspects of his game. Up to the coach to keep him going forward. I understand everyone's frustration and share it at times, but I thought his endeavour and hard work were first rate. Give him time in the midfield. Ratts obviously saw something in him

As president of the Justin Davies fan club, its always been his attack on the ball and desperation that I've liked about him. I just think he's one of those players that will take a little longer. Took a while for him to settle in Melbourne as we know so that put him a little behind.

The fact Ratten sees something in him means something to me also.

I'm a big Davies fan.

Thought a couple of years ago he tended to go the man rather than the ball & got himself into a bit of trouble. Since focussing on the ball I think he really has something to offer. Time Pagan showed a bit more confidence in him. Give him more game time & more time on ball/around the middle of the ground. I'm sure he won't disappoint. Confidence is a big thing & I don't think he is far off really stepping up. Don't forget, if he kicked straighter at the start of the year, he may not have got dropped.

Here Here. Third and fourth efforts are fantastic. On the weekend, I recall seeing him on a couple of occasions disrupt a kick and then make it to the next contest and apply more pressure. Forever throwing his body at the ball and the man and if that means giving up the odd 'sloppy' free, that's fine with me. Don't forget he earns as many as gives up.

Considering our lack of hard at it midfielders and non-existent midfield pressure, I would love to see him given some more meaningful time in the middle.

... and if Brad is president, I'd gladly nominate for Vice.

If you wanna know how good JD can be go back and watch the wizard cup GF.

The desperation he showed, tackling and chasing were a big factor for us keeping the ball in the f50...

What has happened since I don't know.

One week in, one week out, one week in............... & when he gets a game he spends half his time on the pine!!!

lack of confidence shown by the coaching staff is impeding his progress.

Why doesn't DP just go up to him & say the he is going to back him for 3/4 games, give him more time on the ground & in the thick of the action? Bet that would be the turning point for a boy currently in limbo.

Agree with the above. At the start of the year, when he was getting time on the field, he actually showed a bit... unfortunately, his goal kicking let him down.

Juzzy needs a bit more faith shown in him and be given more game time instead of being limited to just cameo appearances.

No matter what happens to Davies, i will be forever grateful for what he did against Collingwood in round 22 last year.

The smothers, the tackles, the 2nd efforts, i haven't seen anyone apply that much pressure for years. Davies and Walker were like two men on a mission that game. I'll never forget this bit of play in the last quarter, a couple minutes to go. Walker tackles, ball spills to some Collingwood bloke, he goes to kick long Davies smothers, three Collingwood blokes running at the ball, Waite takes out one, Walker running full pelt gets in the middle of the other two filth, gives out lightning quick hands to Waite who kicks a goal!

Waite, Davies and Walker single handedly beat atleast 5 filth and finished it off with a goal.

BEST. PLAY. EVER!

Oh and that leap in the Wizza Cup Granny by Davies was huuuuge! Shattered he dropped that, would've been mark of the year if it was taken in the home and away season.

If Brad and Knackers are captain and vice, i'm deputy vice captain of the Davies bandwagon!

Davies has a future, and he will not be dropped. Showed to much from such little opportunities to be dropped. He's shown he's up to AFL level, one of the true Carlton greats has shown faith in him, it's time for Pagan to do the same!

GO JUZZY!

It was only a matter of time until the dissenters emerged.

Let's hope the boy gets a decent chance this time. That's all we ask ... to see if he is up to it, which I think he is.

yeah, I thought Davies put in. I hope he wasn't dropped. I have a lot of time for Justin. He's got to hit the weights BIG TIME, but I don't think he's getting a fair run.

I nominate myself for a position in there somewhere too. Favourite player, has been from day 1.

Would really love for Pagan to show some more faith in him and keep him in the seniors for the rest of the year, along with all the other young guys like Bentick and Simmo. We've got nothing to lose, but everything to gain. We're not going to make finals this year, but if the young players get the development they need we will be a chance in the next few years.

Davies is tough, and although he may not get many kicks, he does a lot of 1%ers and puts his body on the line, more than I can say for a lot of his senior team mates.

GO JUZZY!

There is no conspiracy.
Denis doesnt leave him out because he is unfair or because of some unknown agenda.

Justin doesnt do enough.
He gets plenty of opportunities but has'nt grasped them.
Denis plays him up forward and he kicks 2 goals from 11 shots!
Its hard enough getting the ball inside 50 without pissing it up against the wall.
He gets a run with role and doesnt have the pace.
He doesnt win enough ball to play midfield and his disposal would be in the worst 5 at the club.
Thems the facts.
Yes he's hard, yes he turns it on one quarter every 6 games.
Its not enough.
He needs to stand up and quickly.

Hard to argue with what you're saying, he needs to grasp the opportunities he is given, but like I said earlier I think he's one of those players that its just going to take a little longer for him to become consistent. Plays 4 quarters in the VFL and dominate's, plays in bits and piece's in the AFL and struggles. What a few of us has said is it may be worth trying him for 4 quarters and tell him he'll play for 6 weeks. We've got nothing to lose now.
