Andrew Demetriou can say all the bullshit he wants but it is still bullshit. "The penalties were not set against individuals but against the club" He can say the the penalties were to the club but guess what, it is the suppporters who actually suffer and not the club. The club goes on, the players and staff members still have their jobs and go about their business but it is the supporters who have to put up with the slop their serve up as football. I am no trying to be flippant or disrespectful to the club, but it is just in business, if the senior management breaks the rules, they are punished , not the shareholders. The AFL did f&&&ing nothing to protect the shareholders of one of their franchises. This would not have been tolerated in the business community but because the the AFL is run by a bunch of midgets, licking the boots of other midgets, we, the supporters, get shafted. |

The players must love having the fact they're not very good, are c-graders shoved down their throat at every stage. When Pagan says "I'd love to have Jonothan Brown at Centre half forward and Nick Reiwoldt at centre half back' Thornton and Whitnall.Waite must just beam with the pride and faith the ocach has in them. There must almost be an acceptance and expectation amongst the players that they should be playing like shit because everyone at the club keeps reminding them that they are shit |

Thats right! Collo and Denis should just come out and say we have a heap of A graders playing for us. Guns as far as the eye can see..... Im sure Thornton can play at FB if Riewoldt came to the club and played at CHB. Waite at this stage is a flanker still.. and not a true CHF.. and Whitnall cant consider himself a CHF either... I think the club is realistic and helping us get conditioned to where were at and what we need to do. Having said that the club has not been in a position as good as this to attract an uncontracted player and there can be no argument that we need as many picks as possible in the rich end of the draft. Especially this year as its shallow... |

Yep we have suffered badly from those draft penalties prob for 2 reasons one we had a massive change of personel in the last 2-3 years with the retirements of all our senior players ie SOS / Rats / Mckay / Hickmont to name a few and when normally we would get some salvation from the draft we have not had any oppertunity to rebuild or replace and this year probably reflects those penalties most where we see other teams who hit the bottom rebound with there influx of talented youth we have suffered, Take the Tigers and Hawks last season who between them had i think 9 or 10 picks in the tops 20 and could pick and choose the types of players they wanted as well as target somone in the PSD ... look at the Blues last 3 years for 2 years including the spoon we have been pole axed with the inability to pick up the choice talent we wanted to IE missing out 3-5 top 20 picks including pick no1 .. plus a chance in the PSD ... 2 years ago we come second last again lucky to retain our 2nd round priority and Nick stevens but again loose access to 3-4 top 20 picks and then last year we over achieved and now people criticise Pagan for that and we miss out on the cream of the crop again. So 2 years of severe penalties resulting missing betwen 5-8 top 20 picks depending on how we traded and what we did plus a PSD. Then is a year which Pagan managed to get our team up we miss out again getting only 1 pick in the top 20. 2 Top picks in 3 years when our list badly needs rebuilding and with our results we should have had 7-10 over those 3 years. This is gonna hurt any club i dont care which club you put that senario too. In fact no other club has been damaged as badly by the AFL. If we where a styrong team and had been hit by draft penalties it wouldnt have been as bad as we wouldnt have had access to the best picks in the land but in our case our list struggled and being last and second last and not have what we should have has stuffed this club at this present point in time. And yep as a final note..... our recruiting prior to the last 3 years hasnt helped and even more so with the hit of the draft penalties where we needed to rebuild and couldnt. So all in all we will have to work hard and ride at this bleak period in history and i believe we will but we just have to accept that there will be some pain in the process. And if we do come last this year it will probably be the best thing for the club even though the thought makes me feel like crap gettin another spoon. But if we had not been penalised in the last 3 years we would be playing in the 8 right now. Thankyou AFL for wrecking my club but we will bounce back no thanks to you ... this comment below says it all "But we can't not punish a club that's broken the rules just because all the personnel has changed. Otherwise, it gives a licence to any club to commit serious breaches. But I'm sure Denis has days when he looks at his group and wonders what it might have been like with Daniel Wells and Brendon Goddard and others." what more can i say ... the Blues will be a Pheonix rising from the ashes the AFL have put a flame too .. and when we do rise we will stick it back to them. The next premiership we get will be one to savour. |

I'm hoping the boys will come out tonight and respond in the best way possible to Denis' "challenge". Go on, prove you're not a bunch of C graders! |

I'd keep Thornton at CHB, Riewoldt at CHF and play J.Brown on the ball and Polly Farmer in the ruck Chicken Smallhorn |

![]() Really? I thought he was saying we WILL launch a campaign to sign Riewoldt and Brown.. I suggest everyone look up the page to the article about how Luke Power is on a knifes-edge to leave Brisbane. After reading that I say: SIGN SAM... EVEN THOUGH HE'S CRAP HE'D GET A GAME FOR US |

Quote: but the crowd around the Carlton cheer squad last week was hurling almost as many insults at Pagan as they were at another favourite target, Scott Camporeale, whose work ethic, along with Nick Stevens and Anthony Koutoufides, Pagan praised this week. ![]() |

Quote: Carlton re-entered the early stages of the national draft last November but the Blues' unexpected 10 wins and an 11th-placed finish had the club well away from the riches reaped by Richmond, Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs.
"I reckon last year covered a few problems," said Collins, who admitted 10 wins had far exceeded his own expectations. "But you look at the team of individual men and you talk about A-graders and B-graders and so forth. We've probably got two almost half A-graders, a handful of B-graders and as for C through to Z-grade . . . well, we've got plenty of those. Pretty much spot on as far as I'm concerned. Can't see too much wrong with Collo's currrent assessment of our list. |

camelboy wrote: Hmm. ![]() And after reading that piece ... it's official, we're playing for a PP. ![]() Congrats camel.... I take it you've now been "converted"?! ![]() ![]() It doesn't look like we'll be doing any tanking though. Denis will be trying to win every week: Quote: Denis: “It’s not a nice thing . . . nobody wants to be involved in this situation, but there’s no point thinking about the future and early draft picks yet. I couldn’t do that. We have to go out and try to win every week. Quote: (The coach, incidentally, was clearly angry after the loss to Sydney and reportedly singled out his captain, Anthony Koutoufides, for strong criticism. When asked this week whether he had delivered the "spray", Pagan said he had been firm. Of Koutoufides, he said: "It was his first quiet game. He's been terrific for us all season.")
And the proof for me that we are not playing for draft picks just yet are this week's changes: In Bowyer, Johnson Out Bentick, Clarke ![]() |

It was a good article by Wilson..... but I hated Demitrispew's sanctimonious comments. I am going to really enjoy no.17 when it comes... and Demitrispew & Evans and their his cronies at the AFL will be receiving such a barrage of righteous gloating from the AFL web site will blow up I cannot see the light but I know it is there and it will shine brightly when the true order is re-established F%$k the AFL, F#$k Evans, F*&K Demitrispew - vengeance will be ours Go Blues |

I don't necessarily think it is pee pee Pagan is talking about. Just having picks in the first 2 rounds of the draft is going to be manna from heaven for him. He has had what, 3(?) top 30 picks in 3 years of coaching. I think when he is referring to picks he is just saying last year was year 0. From now on in we are using our first and second round picks. Give him some draft picks and he will build us a team. |

Personally I don't think these two will be at the club next year so he has played them at the expense of the development of a younger player/s ie. trying to win the game. The Outs: Bentick out means 1 less "development" of a younger player. As for Clarke.... well let's just say if I was playing to tank he'd probably be the 1st player picked in my side ![]() |
