Held Akermanis to a draw football-wise and won the scuffle.
I'd love to hear what Aker would say about Walker's game, he's very honest and forthright and in the past has praised opponents who have played well on him. They had a good chat after the game before shaking hands and patting each other on the back.

By the time Walker is 23 he will be a true star of the game and by the time he will have retired he will have been a superstar..!!!..

Really glad to see young Walker showing disciplene and to remain so focused for the whole game.

I don't think it will be too long before we see Walker getting the attention he gave to Aka tonight.

Walker has pace to burn and he is definitely one positive we can look forward too.

I thought AW was excellent last night and he showed he will be a great player

To play on Aker, who is one of my favourite opposition players as he "calls a spade a spade" and has skills on both sides of his body few posses, and hold him to a draw was brilliant

Well done AW

To be the best, you have to learn from the best..

Pagan is just fast tracking Walkers development this year and will unleash the beast next year.

Fantastic effort. Aker's a great player, and he's one of the few players from opposing teams I love watching just to see what he can do. He really is something special, and here's what he said in the Age article:
Quote:
Walker's efforts even earned a vote of encouragement from his opponent. After the match, Akermanis approached the young Blue. "He just said, 'Good work, mate'."

Few words, but high praise from a fantastic player, and one who will be in the Hall of Fame one day.

I'd rate last nights game better than his debut.

Was given a big job, put his head down and arse up and got it done. If only some of his comrades in the midfield would be as disciplined.

I had my doubts in regards to Walker playing as a tagger these days. However, after last nights performance those doubts have been erased. This experience will help educate Walker in the future when opposition players start tagging him.

When I look back at the top draft picks since 1999 you notice those players such as Hasleby to find it difficult shaking off their taggers.

Even the calibre of Ball and Judd find it difficult to shake off their taggers.
What do u guys think?

Aker was on Ch7 this morning and he did give Walker quite a bit of praise. Cant remember the exact words but he did say he enjoyed the contest, has energy to burn and will be a great player. Certainly a masterstroke from Denis to give him a "run with" role, learning from the best in the game over the last few weeks. Scott West and Ben Cousins await over the next 2 weeks.

I was so happy for Walker I almost cried. The guy's got it.... and Aker is a super smart player, whom he would have learnt a shit load off.

Even by the end of the night he'd learnt to stay goal-side of him, and to watch him from goalside even if Aker's on the outside of the contest.

To see Walker stand up to the scuffles and kick a goal himself.... boy, this kid has real RAG.

The concern will be, for this year, that we don't want to wear him into the ground. A spell for a game or 2 on a back or forward flank with a job will be good respite for a worn body. Maybe next week he can tag Gilbee on a forward flank?

For the rest of the season I say: @#$%&! the results. Watch for the little contests. Watch for Livo, Thornton, Walker... for Waite's marks and Betts running and tackling. If we can leave every game thinking... "we're all growing together", then who cares if we lose

Great performance by Walker. He will learn heaps from it. The only way he could have learnt more is if Aker had had 30 possessions :D He learnt that he can be a player and a little bit from playing on a champion, he learnt to stand up for himself...but if Aker had 30 he would have watched first hand how a champion goes about it and copes with a tight tag all night.

Great stuff by Campo to not volunteer for the job so that Walker could have the opportunity

If Campo had been put on Aka with his current mind set and behaviour ... Aka would have had 30+ Touches prob 3-5 goals 3-5 frees and you could throw in a couple of 50 Meter Penalties for good measure ... also Aka would have been free to roam the ground as there wouldnt have been any accountability...

Great to see Walker stay on Aka like glue .... i be thinkin Brisbane would have been giving similar praise with Selwood on Stevo he did a great job also Both Kids nullified 2 champion players. So both would have been given great credit they stuck to there tasks and thats all coach can ask for

If that were to happen, that would be an awesome matchup...Depending on what role Walker plays, if he is used as a tagger on Conney, then he could probably shut him down, but if he were to go one-on-one with him you'd think that Conney would have the edge...Only just though

At stages he does.

He kicked three last night and had 27 touches, but those three came from drifting off his opponent into space in the forward line.
