At 27 Jared Waite is ready to fully realise his potential. He has had a season back now after his knee reco and I believe he has all the attributes to dominate off a wing next season.

Needed up forward! With big Matty K and hendo will provide a talented multi-pronged attack. Plus the little blokes up forward, our forward structure will be the least of our problems.

I really hope they teach kreuze to play chf, ge could be so damaging! Just needs to work on his marking technique

He should have a good year, but he has never shown the potential Kouta did prior to 2000.

Both athletic, but thats where the similarities end.

For starters he has to keep his arms, elbows, fists etc down.

His big problem is that he finds himself on the side lines far too often.

As a start he needs to get that right.

if he remains on the park, then he will be all australian. Unfortunately it remains to be seen whether or not he can remain on the park for the full season though (injury/suspension history)

Waite should play as the lead up forward starting from about 30 meters out.

Henderson should play up the ground.

Both need to be targets and allow for the ball to come over the back for the smalls.

Kruezer will never be CHF, he offers far more as a mobile hard at the contest Ruckman.

My preference is for Kruezer to Ruck rove at times and push forward. A very big hard body around the ball, full of second efforts. Will make plenty of space for Judd and co.

If he has a season thats just 25% better (and without the suspensions) he'll kick 60+ goal and well win 3 or more games than last year.

He was not fully fit for most of this year, got rubbed out, dropped himself and as still a very handy player when it counted.

Great post Caulfield.

If Kreuzer isn't required in the forwardline for the betterment of the team (the win) then what a great luxury it would be to have Kreuzer as our Ruck Rover. Everyone knows that.

I reckon he will not only be needed in the forwardline, especially if Waite is needed down back, but also because he will be eased back into in the forwardline to build him up readiness for finals midfield fitness.

Kreuzer is the one who may surpass Kouta moreso than Waite.

Waite was fit enough to ruck rove before the knee injury. 3rd fastest around Princess Park back in 2009.
Waite has a tarnished reputation, but no one can take away his State Selection.
When he becomes an All Australian, I'll consider the Kouta comparison, but a Flag would be enough to change my opinion.

It's all about Flags at Carlton.

2010: Kouta 1 Waite 0

Imagine Warnock Waite Kreuzer Judd vs Sandilands, Pavlich, Barlow Mundy

Imagine Kreuzer Kouta Waite Judd ... none of them could handball like Diesel though.

Give it a whirl. If mid-season he's playing well enough to cause us salary cap stress, then he can be rested or subbed or axed even.

Kouta's 2000 season is up there with the best I have seen from any player. Just magic the way he could be so big and yet so athletically capable at ground level. Not to mention versatility all over the ground. He did a number on Wayne Carey that season too. It still surprises me as to how he never won the brownlow; despite missing the last couple of games I thought he was a shoe-in.

So to answer the question, Waite won't have a season like Kouta did in 2000. But I still think he's in for a good year in 2011.

Let's not have our expectations too high for him- the key to success is to under-promise and over-deliver.

Good luck to Jarrad in 2011.

Only Kouta could have a 2000 season. Was on a different plane to everyone else in the AFL. Sublime, nearly brought tears to the eyes.

Waite is a highly talented and versatile player, but come on!!!

I think, at his age, we pretty much know what we're going to get from Waite.

He'' be maddeningly inconsistent and leave us all wondering 'what if'.

What I'd like to see out of him next year is 20+ games, all in the one spot. Highly unlikely, but that's what I'm hoping for.

Some of his pack marks he took in the latter part of the season were amazing something I have not seen from a Carlton forward for a very long time. I know Fev was great but he wasn't someone who would take a big pack mark he would burn his defender on the lead.

As far as could Waite go as well as Kouta in 2000 I doubt it that season was unbelievable and something you won't see again for a long long time. In saying that i expect Waite to improve again this season providing he gets continuity into his game ie no suspensions or injuries. I think he should aim for 50 goals.
