Was going to post this in the Bullants section but though that it deserves more attention. Just wanted to congratulate Setanta on his great form in the past 6 weeks! He is really starting to make a believer out of me. As of todays efforts (another 3 goals!) Setanta is officially 3rd in goals in the VFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not bad for somebody who has only played 20 games of football. Has anybody heard anymore on DeLuca? Would love to see Setanta be given another run in the seniors! |

Surely the Match Committee just don't want too allow the likes of Sentanta, Russell, Hartlett (when fit), etc the exposure until we have the PP and wooden spoon wrapped up. Otherwise De luca would be on the LTI list and Sentanta would be promoted. The flip side maybe that: If he is promoted again, we may be so close too the salary cap limit that another promotion and associated payments, combined with any payments paid too De luca under his contract may mean that we may be close too going over. |

I disagree let Setanta develop in the VFL give him a good season were he will play full games rotating foward/ruck its the best opportunity for him to gain confidence, understanding and skill. If he plays seniors he will be on and off the bench i wouldnt play setanta consistantly untill half way through next year the game time in the VFL is underestimated |

The rules, as reflected in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (see http://www.aflpa.com.au), makes it clear that no part of Santy's salary is to be included under the TPP even if he is promoted for the rest of the year:
(e) the Football Payments made to a Rookie temporarily promoted to the Primary List of an AFL Club to replace a Player transferred to the Long Term Injury List; ... 12.3 For the period a Player remains on the Long Term Injury List of an AFL Club, that AFL Club may apply to the AFL General Manager – Football Operations for permission to temporarily promote a Rookie to its Primary List and subject to paragraph 4.7 of Schedule B, any payments made to the Rookie for the period that the Rookie remains on the Primary List as a replacement for a Player on the Long Term Injury List, shall be excluded from the Total Player Payments of the AFL Club. 12.5 Football Payments made to a Player on the Long Term Injury List shall be included in calculating the Total Player Payments for the AFL Club. The proviso referred to in 12.3 is not relevant as there is no way that Santy could remain on the senior list upon ADL being reinstated:
(b) while on the Primary List to replace a long term injured Player, shall not be included in the Total Player Payments of an AFL Club provided that if the Rookie remains on the Primary List when the long term injured Player is reinstated to the Primary List, Football Payments received by the Rookie in respect of the period after the long term injured Player is reinstated (“the date of reinstatement†|
