Post subject: | Pagan Years 2003 onwards - Pagans Plan |
If we look at Pagan from when he arrieved I have done an exercise highlighting how weak our list is so very hard to blame Pagan for what he has tried to do to squeeze some success so i profer he has a grand plan and i am only taking a stab in the dark 2002 - Arrieves expecting to get all the benefits of the side finishing bottom in 2002 but is crueled by the draft penalties .. tests out the current list which finished last to access there worth 2003 - Gets team off the bottom in 2003 Makes massive changes to the list still penalised by the draft still manages to get Walker at 2 and Stevo for nothing realises the extent of our problems 2004 - Makes less changes to get stability realises this is a long term prospect has 2 aims get some confidence in the supporters and to get more sponsers by getting some success / Blues make decision to leave Optus so some success will be good to back up the move to keep supporter some hope and so they move next year to the new venue He gets us 10 wins people are positive ... semi accpet the move to our new home and has one other aim due to our debt get the Wizzer Cup in 2005. Deep down he knows that our list is poor and needs to be addressed also knows that he needs to get a extension to turn the Blues around. 2005 - Keeps the drafts and selects players more for 2006 than 2005 tries to get some possible bonus trades in T-Lo and Chambers. Will then use 2005 to make a final assessment on the recycleds before using the axe again .. expect 2005 Draft to have a few delisitings. Wins the Wizzer cup .... injection of $$$ Keps supporters up so they renew membership and hope for more success / The success allows the Blues sign up some more much needed Sponsers - Subaru / TRucking mob / Dan Murpheys and better deal from Optus. Also helps him get contract extension for his future plans. Now sits down prob like i did assesses the list and now realises this time we bottom out get benefits of the draft target a an oppositon Profile player and start to bring in some of the choices in the draft from 2004 IE Russell / Hartlett / Blackers / Raso ect. ALl these players will benefit from playing in a successful team the Bullants than be poleaxed in the Seniors. Uses the 2005 season to access who will remain on the list from the foreign legion. Has more $$$ to play with as a lot of bad and backened Contracts are finished and looks to redelivering success in 2006 with the picks of 2004 and 2005 coming into 2006. People will grissle in 2005 and wonder why we are going backward .. carry on get upset threaten to not renew for 2006 ect But Pagan has achieved what he wanted to do and i reckon it hurts him a lot as record pre - Blues was great / Record Post Blues is poor so he is mucking up his own good record at staying at the Blues . What has he achieved up until 2005 -Transtion of the move of venues -Brought some success to get the Membership up -Achieved getting more sponsers to the club again success and change of venue -Wins Wizzer Cup $$$ and keeps membership up 2006 -After getting another spoon not on Pagans wish list but to improve list has to accept reality list is really crap and flawed -Pickup choice picks and a Gun player and now has a much better mix to work with for 2006 - May still aim for success in Wizzer cup as we still need to show our new Team is successful. - Net result Members remain seeing a better year and the draft choice and kids ..similar to the Tigers this year. - Now will work to launch the Blues into a positve era for 2006 onwards - Also he got his renewed contract before the 2005 Year goes to the bottom |

yes that is true pagen is a brilliant coach but not even a coach like denis can turn around that list in 1-2 years i think he over achieved last year in winning ten games. I think we just need to give denis and the players time to rebuild and look to the future. As the saying goes "its not the 16th premiership that drives us its the 17th" so lets stop moaning give the club and coach time and look to the future positivly |

A real positive is that Collingwood and Richmond are both doing this year exactly what we did last year. Overachieving and giving their fans false hope. Good to see. I still have supreme faith in Denis. |
