He's done some great work up forward, but we need his leadership and presence up back now and he can do the job by my books! - I'd prefer him back there than Whitnall, especially while Lance's form in front of goals is stronger than it has been.

It would make sense to make this move when Fish gets back and sure, if things are going OK, or if we need to mix things up a bit, chuck him up forward for a while!

But I reckon moving him back could help us a lot at the moment - surely Pagan would be willing to try a few things at this stage of a crap season?

Or maybe the back flank moving up to the wing - provide a good option for when we do get our hands on the ball out of back pockets and flanks!

He is learning the toughest spot on the ground, and doing well. This is his first year in this position and we want to move him?
He is our only marking target from 40m to 70m out given Lance has to stay close to goal to be effective.

Theres no point shattering another young man while our midfield leaks like a sieve. No point at all.

Haha, I know what you mean Deano, however I've been an advocate of at least trying young Vin at CHB for a while now. He has the athletic ability to play in the position, he has the mongrel to play in any position really, but especially CHB, and on the CHFs that he would be likely to match up on.

So that's the good points. Does he have the discipline to match up on key forwards for four quarters? Does he have the rebounding and attacking flair that can make a gun CHB, does he have the ability to control the backline? These are questions that can only be answered by giving Jarrad a go in defence. At the very least he could be tried there as a view to him being a stop gap measure should Tbird and Livo get injured again. At best having three talls in defence could prove very handy indeed.

I reckon it's worth a try.

Worth trying, but not at the moment IMO. Our midfield delivery is terrible and even with a high number of F50 entries we can't kick a score. Why? Because our midfield doesn't push forward hard enough to create a contest at the spillage. Moving Waite out of there will reduce our marking power. He's also really the only one who presents to the midfielders from CHF.

When Fish comes back it might be worth trying but not at the moment. Let Jarrad learn CHF, he's doing quite well taking 9 marks 3 times this season and 8 marks 3 times this season with an average of 6.5 marks per game. This is perfectly acceptable for a 1st year CHF.

Besides I would like Livo and Thornton to learn to take on the best two forwards every week.

That's a good point on Tbird and Livo Clem. I wouldn't like an experiment with Waite in defence to hinder the continuing development of the guys who look like being ouir mainstays in defence for years to come.

But in Chad Cornes, as a recent example, we can see the possible results of a CHF type learning the CHB position. Obviously, not every player will follow suit, but I still think it worth a try.

And as Clem noted in regards to Fisher, with a fit Fevola, Whitnall and Fisher on the field we probably need to shore up our KPP defenders more so than our forwards.

Not an easy choice...player development wise I would leave Waite down forward as our third marking option. He is playing well in patches and learning how to take some good contested marks and his kicking for goal has improved.

I guess when Fisher returns the obvious move is Waite down back to shore up a dodgy defense that needs more size...maybe better for the club to limit damage but what about the future is its really helping Waite become a better player? Waite will be given jobs on bigger stronger players and probably get knocked around more.
I'm not sure about him at CHB..still needs more kgs IMHO and not sure if he is a natural defender...

re: Fisher...wouldnt mind seeing Fisher play FF if Fev is injured or needs a break....with Fev still un-signed I reckon Fisher playing out of the goal square is worth trying and seeing if he can hold down the position just as insurance for Fev if things dont work out with him...

I don'tdisagree with the move Vin to the back line theory. But i wouldlike to see him moved to a Half Back Flank.. :roll: When the Fish gets back and moves into the forward line this would bethe time to move Vin to the back half. Imagine the run the committment that Waite would offer, needless to say that he would really make Half Forwards far more accountable hence throwing back the Onus to the opposition ( coach) to be reactive and us being proactive causing plenty of headaches.

One Flank Waite, and the other three spots taken up by any one of the following : Carrazzo, Lappin,Teague, McGrath, Bannister, Houlihan, Sporn, Norman, even Simpson or Campo.

To me this wouldn't be such a bad backline !

Not sure if a floating flanker in the forward line is what we need from Waites development..


Id like to see him play CHB and show some dash...

Take your point about being a floating half forward and probably not really having a position but I dont fancy him at CHB on the likes of Brown, Tredrae and co either..he isnt big enough and I think he lacks a yard of pace. My personal view is we need a Glen Jakovich type CHB who is strong and mobile and can take on anyone and win....ok they dont come along every draft and they dont grow on trees but the facts are we have no one to play on the likes of Hall, Brown , Tredrae etc and these players are going to be with us for the next ten years and these are the players who beat us every game..we need the real deal and I'm not sure Jarrod is the real deal at CHB or CHF for that matter.....he just isnt physical enough for mine....

I would like to see how he would go in the midfeild . Dont think he would make a good defender. He got exposed on Saturday night by a Rookie ( Josh Drummond) who ran off him and was quite damaging. He reminds me so much of what Kouta was like when he first started and I think Kouta spent his first years on the wing.
He is a big boy and his physical nature would not go astray at the centre bounces

The move probably should have been made over summer, I was in favour of it then.

Look for it to be more a 2008/2009 move now, he needs to settle, learn the forward role and see where we're at in a few years time.

Moving him now only stunts his and T-Brid/Livo's development.

Its an interesting thought though
