They dont look after him because he dives all the time - and squeals to the umpire. Maybe if he just concentrated on his game he would be awarded a free when he deserves it

Campo shouldn't have complained not the right thing to do. But Campo has been battered from pillar to post over the years and doesn't get protected by the Umps.

A good example was the game against Collingwood when Brodie Holland spent the entire day charging at Campo off the ball and when Campo finally protected himself against a clearly illegal charge gets reported and slammed by supporters for lack of discipline. Personally I would taken out Holland long before Campo did.

Against Geelong Campo got spat on by a Geelong player ( and it was clear what happened on the replay). Nothing.

Last year got king hit 50m behind play by a Richmond player . Nothing.

But Campo is just a soft whinger. Maybe he just should smack a few more people. Mightn't get targetted as much.

What about all the times he grabs his head and throws himself to the ground when the replays clearly show no contact was made to him at all?

I had to explain to my 9 year old daughter the story about the little boy who cried wolf after I received yet another call from the school advising me she had fallen over and was injured.

Perhaps someone needs to share that story with Campo.

Mandy, Campo deserves protection just like every other player in the AFL.

Do players who bend their head into a tackle at the last minute deserve a free? No but they receive it. Does Lloyd receive free kicks for swan diving? Yes. Does Holland get free kicks for throwing himself backwards on the ground, supposedly for being wacked? Yes. Been happening because umpires are stupid, has nothing to do with this argument though. :wink:

What about the time Campo was penalised for throwing his nose in to Bowden's fist. :evil:

...its a chicken or the egg argument. Since he walked in to the team he has been targetted and now in the twilight of his career he is staging. Wrong thing for him to do but it shits me that umpires will not pay free kicks if they are there just because he mouths off. Memo to the umps - it does not matter if you do not like him as a person just do your job!

Umpies are like elephants and have good memories....Campo should have mouthed of less in his early days and might be getting a better deal now...Lloyd is in the same boat...less diving for free kicks and more going after the footy wouldnt have him whinging either...both of them only have themselves to blame....its not like the umpies are going to be crying over campo smacked in the gob is it? especially by a clean skin like Voss....

Less whinging and more getting the footy is what I want to see from my 500k a year player...

Camporeale has been more singled out for more niggling and physical attention than any other Carlton midfielder in recent years and, on occasions, has reacted angrily to the attention he receives from the opposition.

I will never forget that final in '01 when that scumbag Sziller stomped his ankles all day, Campo's boots were full of blood that night and he would not have played th efollowing week if we had won, he didnt get a single free kick for it.

You should have told your daughter that tale ages ago. Holland is the worse i have seen (well apart form Wanganeen and LLoyd).

I'm not saying I like for one second seeing my own players doing it either. But this thread is not about Holland or any other Pie player so I can only comment on the title subject.

...yes but Camel most other midfielders get a modicum of protection from the umpires. I'm not excusing his behaviour but when the umpires sit back and do nothing they are not doing their jobs.
