I don't know about you, but i was watching the Herald Sun advertisement the other day and noticed that there are at least five references to Essendon* players and only one snippet with a Carlton reference. There is 1) Sheehan talking to Sheedy - i think the ad. opens with this 2) Hird with Buckley in AFL headquarters - which is the most appropriate place for him to be when one considers that he concocted that ridiculous get out of jail situation last year with the umpires... (still waiting for patrick smith's expose on this) 3) one where they come running out of the race. 4) one with solomon i think 5) and another one which escapes my memory. In return, Carlton gets one snippet of coverage - where jim wilson is walking across the mcg with kouta and stevens. This ad. pretty much confirms the Herald Sun's biases in my opinion. 5 to 1... that is how they think of Essendon* in relation to other clubs. |

Lucky then that big Jim is a Carlton supporter, or else we'd probably have zero references in the ad. |

...and Whitnall....c'mon he's not gone yet! It's just a crap fluffy ad about how "into" footy therse guys are...it might be better if they just got their facts straight and learnt to spell.....but it's hard getting that across in an ad |

Billc3 - I have got to disagree with you on this one. It is pavlov's dog type of stuff. It is a subtle type of way of saying that to the Herald Sun newspaper Essendon* is 5 times more important than Carlton. It is important that underdog clubs such as Carlton are aware of how they are presented in the media. From memory, i don't think there is one reference at all to Hawthorn... i could be wrong... but you look at the amount of attention Essendon* gets in this paper and you will realise it is an accurate representation of their priorities- ie fostering Essendon* at the expense of other clubs. |

Pretty sure the last frame is Carlton running on the ground as well? Photographers with Fevola in the background? You're kidding aren't ya Tap? So we have one Collingwood item and you think the ad accurately represents how the Hun approaches editorial content? It's not called the Collingwood Football Club Newsletter for nothing!!! |

Dr Silvagni, I understand where you are coming from but I am not kidding. Where was a reference to a geelong player? g ablett junior or a hawthorn player.... or another carlton player... not there as they only had enough time to allocate to that long gooey shot of hird standing in ron evans office. |
