Post subject: Time to make a stand...

Just listening to Wallsy on the couch - very depressing stuff to be honest listening to him talking about Carlton being at the bottom half of the ladder for the next few years...

Well, it's time for True Blues supporters to make a stand I reckon.

I'd like only people who can make the following commitments in terms of supporting the Carlton Football Club to respond within this thread, indicating that you will continue to support the Blues wholeheartedly for at least the next five years, (if not for your entirety of your remaining career as a human being) no matter where we are on the ladder, no matter how many wooden spoons we win and no matter how long it takes us to make it to the finals again and to win another premiership.

Simple as that.

In the words of the classics, WHO'S WITH ME???

This is possibly me being a bit dramatic (which isn't uncommon!) after listening to Wallsy and the reality of our situation sinking in a bit (although I'm not quite as pessimistic as he is) but surely it's time for true Blues supporters to stand up and let the rest of the footy world we ain't going nowhere!

If you've got negative stuff to say about all this, please post it in another thread!

Not buying into any of this 5-10 year crap.
The problem is 80% mental and Ive been saying that for a long time. Yes the W Cup was a meaningless practise match circuit and I'll get hounded down for even mentioning it, but we beat Saturdays opposition by 10 goals.
Lappin, Stevens, Fevs and Whitnall dominated. Somethings not right..

The only thing constant about footy is change. Ive been saying that for ages. Funnily enough our fortunes in 2005 is the most glaring case- in point.

thats just thread envy that

i'll support carlton until the day either of us die.

going to upgrade my mebership to social club level next season (all going well) and will hopefully get to see two more games this year (ess and coll) which will take my season total to 7, which is a pretty good effort for a canberra boy i reckon. i'm at two wins (wizzer cup) and three losses.

after 4 wins and a loss last year.

seen everygame either live on FTA (once or twice) or live or 30min delay on fox down at eastlakes footy club.

i'm loving every minute of it.

Had the pleasure. Know what you are getting at to tommi.

The hungi is very hard work and the cooking process is slow, but the meat at the end, Oh the Meat!!

The most tender, succulent, meat you have ever eaten in your life.

The next premiership will be hard work and slowly cooked as well.

Let's be the supporters that are the envy of all other clubs. Supporters that don't spit on their coach, or ring radio stations in tears, or dump crap at the clubs front door. We also don't want to be meek and pathetic and disappear until someone else fixes the problem and only emerge from under their rock after years of failure.

Let's buy memberships and attend games and support the navy blue. Let's be patient and realise we were shafted from within, and outside the club(but that's a whole other argument). Let's support the blokes who have to wear jumper each week and prove to the other clubs that we're here in good and bad times. Our resolve in the bad times will p1ss other supporters off more than medium success ever would.

I've been on since '68 and have no intention of getting off now. I'm back in Melbourne for the Hawthorn game and can't wait. My last game was when we beat Essendon* in April so...

Go Blues!

no one in there right mind would even contemplate abandoning this club in the state that its in thats what Carltons all about. We will cop it on the chin but be aware we will be back in a big way.

I think the best way to make a stand is to pull up these depressed, negative, downtrodden Carlton fans and point out any of the following:
* back in the draft completely
* much better position for youth coming through since ... well, for a very long time
* salary cap legacy nearing an end with campo / whits to be re-set and some spare cash finally coming through
* have one of the best young FF, CHF's (disregard the whole debate about whether Waite plays CHF, W or HFF) and CHB's in the comp
* finances better, sponsorship improved, membership stable

We are in a much better position than at any time over the past few years but you need to remind our glass empty fans of that. GO forth and multiply.

Nice one Camel.

I would support Carlton even if they made John Howard president. Navy blue until I die.

The funny thing is most supporters will agree with you here.
So why are we sitting last. :?

As for the last sentence ... I wouldn't treat my clients like that.

Does the title of this thread refer to John Elliott and his desire to make OO one of the premier grounds in Melbourne?
