Is Justin Koschitzke doing the rounds of prospective new clubs? He was seen leaving Optus Oval at 3pm yesterday accompanied by a well dressed man in suit. I have no confirmation other than this was seen by a trustworthy individual who parks his car at Optus while he makes his sales calls in the area. Still on Koschitzke his parents have never been all that rapt in St Kilda and Thomas in particular after Koschitzke was recommended (very strongly) to have injections in his back to allow him to play in his first year. Set him back along way. Would go alright in the Navy Blue me-thinks! ![]() |

The only problem I have with him, is that he cannot get on the park. Would be a good get though. |

Would be a good get though. Given proper management I think he'd be alright. His career has almost been ruined by the Saints' injury management. |

Seriously, is our injury-management any better? Our record with big men copping stress-related injuries has hardly been flattering. Unless the club learned something from all those stress-fractures we had the last couple of seasons...? |

We've had guys getting preventable injuries which is indefensible, but the way Kosi has been forced to play while still suffering with major problems is another thing altogether. |

And don't they have a good record of that at the moment (as good as our foot stress fracture record!!!) Not doubting your source mc, but this would be an extraordinary get. Given his inability to get on the park consistently then I think a suitable trade could be arranged with a player on our list (not mentioning names). No 1st round picks should be used! But a lot of things need to fall into place for this to happen. The Saints undoubtedly have a TPP squeeze and it is inevitable that a player like Justin will be pressured to sign for less than his market value. And given this and the mismanagement with his injury a couple of years ago, you never know. Collo said this morning that we would be targeting some big names and Justin fits this description Campo - currently $600K - will probably re-sign for $250K and half disappears under the veterans list Whits - currently $500K - will probably re-sign for $250K as well McKernan - currently $450K - contract ends Beaumont - apparently $350K'ish - contract ends Just on those 4 alone we have $1.4M to throw around before re-signing players like Fev, Waite, etc. Should be interesting times ahead! ![]() |

One conspiracy theory revolves around the deliberate playing of players out of position to temper salary requests in upcoming years. I know if I was boss of a Club it would look to have some benefit - especially if it looks like you're going to struggle for a while. Take Teague for example. Bargain basement price. When allowed to play his game, he did well. a little too well! So what do you do? Play him on guys 5 inches taller, even drop him for a few weeks, to makie him feel lucky to keep playing. McGrath was dropped as well on a simialr basis. Bannister, Morrell, etc. Given that we can't sack 15 players this year (or it is highly unlikley that we would), a little additional list rotation might be use to keep those $ demands low. I know this confuses Coach for CEO but some of the matchups this year, I just shudder at the thinking behind them. Perhaps we can keep some of the salary demands of players like the above down, giving further play money! |

Ball, Dal Santo, Hayes, Maguire, Clarke, Riewoldt. With each week off the park, that Hamill 5 year deal will become a bigger and bigger millstone around St.Kilda's neck. They simply cannot keep them all, and more importantly, keep them all happy. Kosi will be the one to slip through the cracks. For his sake, he probably needs to get out of Riewoldt's shadow, which looms ever so large at Moorabbin. I guess the irony of Hamill's contract with St.Kilda possibly gift-wrapping a #2 National Draft pick over to Optus Oval will not be lost on the Carlton faithful. This guy is quality, and he would be a fantastic asset. Injuries heal, he's 22yo. Can play. |

It is easy to get excited about possiblities such as this given our lowly status at present, but people need to realise that a LOT of things need to go right to acquire a player like Justin. A LOT! |

Would we really invite him to Optus Oval for a chat? Would he really want to be seen at Optus Oval during the season? |

Yes, we couldn't get a far lesser player in Knobel to come to us, with the TIgers nabbing him instead. I guess there is a huge plus to coming last though if this is the way that Kosi is considering. Is he definitely out of contract at the end of the year? |

While probably not major, Fevola, Campo, Stevens and Kouta are probably sufficiently injured to be getting a rest, or have been at some stage during the year. What's the deal on these sorts of discussions, is it legit for Kosi to be TalkingCarlton at this time of year? |

boom tish but IMO would be rapted if we got him and i think he is a reasonable target for us to consider as well. Kosi across the half back looks good to me ![]() |

His management has offices in the building next door to mine. I spotted him entering the building around three weeks ago accompanied by someone I took to be a member of his family..... I can't confirm this but he might have been humming "Lily of Laguna". ![]() I would imagine that we would be talking to everyone at the moment. Bit silly if we are doing it so openly. It would make it very difficult for Kosi considering where he is. |

hehe - dont think half of this board would even get the colegate reference. but - no, i think you are allowed to openly talk to anyone, but its more common place to do it at seasons end, but as far as im aware there arent rules im place or anything like that. So no, other than Kozi openly talking to carlton may upset the apple cart at St Kilda, Carlton, as far as im aware, arent breaking any rules i.e. Colegate. |

There's no "Colegate" law as such in AFL, but there should be! that would put an end to eddie's continual attempts to bump up contract prices ... and it would make the players' breath fresher and cleaner ... of course as long as it doesn't conflict with macleans if they're a major AFL sponsor! |
