Back in 2002 who would have thought Fev would have been on our list in 2003 never mind 2005. He was the laziest, most frustrating player to watch. From up in the stands it seemed like Fev was doing a job. He would run out with the team, kick one or two goals and then just spend the rest of the game on the bench. After all this he would receive his pay cheque and head off home.

Objectively, it seemed as if Fev did not care for the game or for the famous jumper he was so fortunate to be wearing.

Today's announcement of Fev's decision to re-sign warrants an apology. I apologise for judging Fev, I apologise for criticising Fev and I apologise for doubting Fev.

Today Fev admirably took less money, gave a long-term commitment and signed with a struggling club. There must be a stronger word than admirable.

Undoubtedly, Fev could have could have landed up at another club with a juicier pay cheque and a premiership in near sight. Instead, Fev showed the passion and commitment that the AFL has divested from our game. He chose the jumper instead of the money. He plays for passion, pride and heart rather than for a lazy premiership.

To put it simply, Fev has done what so many players refuse to do. He is reinforcing the importance of brotherhood and manifesting the commitment that his fellow champions showed before him.

Fev you're a wonderful example. You care about your team, your jumper, your team mates. We - the supporters - are often enraged by Fev's body language and attitude when the team is down. Why does he get so worked up? Simply because he cares so much, and I don't believe we have 22 players like that. We would be lucky to have 10.

Fev I'll be there for the next three years supporting you through the good times and bad...

I'm willing to support anyone who sets such a fine example as a footballer - a true footballer.

the thing about fev and his body language.

i reckon he has improved that imensly (sp?) this year. the best part about fev this year is not that he has kicked 33 goals in 10 games that he has played, but it has been attack and efforts when he doesnt have the ball that has greatly improved this year.

and becuase of that i reckon he is having a good year.

im rapted that he has re-signed though. a positive for the club and its supporters in these dark times.

This thing about Fev and body language. What do you expect from a guy who busts his arse with half a dozen 30 metres leads each quarter only to see the pass either:

- sail over his head
- land on his shoelaces
- pass him about 10 metres either right or left
- or land on his head allowing the FB to easily punch it away.

If you have to put up with that crap for 3 years what does everyone expect, a pip pip cherry ho.

I'm not sure Fev is doing "what most players refuse to do" by re-signing.

Not many actually walk out on their clubs. Well, a few notably exceptions.
