In today's Herald Sun:

Quote:
He became disillusioned at Optus Oval and told Denis Pagan he wanted to pursue his career at Windy Hill after an impressive decade at Carlton, including winning the club best-and-fairest in 1999, the year he also won All-Australian honours.

"In a way I was dirty about my departure and the new people that were at Carlton could have done more not just for me, but blokes like (Brett) Ratten and (Simon) Beaumont," he said.

"Those guys had done so much for the place and so once this all unfolded, I couldn't wait to get out the door and to Essendon*."

For the rest of the article, see http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/common/story_page/0,8033,15710780%255E19742,00.html

I wish Matty would leave it alone. He was a man that was paid handsomely in his last four or five years at the Club and gave very little return. We could all equally say that we were dirty with the way he and his manager continually conducted themselves around contract time.

knucklehead. Hasn't his career just scaled amazing heights at Essendon*...

Wonder what it's like being the latest in the lineup of "Sheedy's Shithouse Post-Madden Ruckmen"

First game against Carlton at the G

In front of the CFC Members and seatholders fell on his A... after dropping a mark. One of the highlights of the season

Hang on a second. Aren't we saying in various forums exactly what Matty's saying? It supports a lot of views being expressed in these pages at the moment. In my book, he was ok, Ratten was ok and Hickmott was ok. Hmmm, there has to be something in all of this, so lighten up on the abuse.

Unfortunately, spot on. I'll give more credence to Matty Allan's words when and if he ever lives up to his potential in a meaningful way over a meaningful period of time.

Really?

Is the author of that story the same Jim Wilson who is supposed to be a Carlton Supporter?

Out the door he went paper bag under the arm and all.

The ratten situation saddens me though as does McKay if the rumours are true. But get in or get out! They got out.

I liked him until he and his parasitic manager tried to ream Carlton every time he was out of contract.

3-4 years does not make a decade.... Was more disillusioned about only getting base + match payment in his last year....

I've always hated Allan after he lied to the club late 2001 saying his foot was ok when it wasn't. Carlton made the decision to trade Mark Porter to get Cory.... As soon as the season started Allan broke down...

Always liked Porter, wasn't the best player going around but always played for the jumper. Would use his big body and crash packs and go in hard for the ball, something that has been missing for a long time..

And there it is in all its ugly glory.

The reason Carlton are in the mess they're in is partly due to a corrupt administration, partly due to excessive penalties but largely due to this.

JFK once said, "My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you: Ask what you can do for your country."

The same thing applies with football clubs you @#$%&! moron Allan. You and your fat-cat mates were the most overpaid footballers in the history of the game and years after you leave the club you're still bitching about what the club didn't do for you.

You're a @#$%&! cancer and the sooner the last of that cancer's cut out the sooner this club starts to turn it around.

Truly bloody extraordinary... :?

Bingo. I don't rate Ratten in the same class, but Allan and beaumont were a pair of bastards that I'm happy to see the back of.
