Just occured to me while reading a post about how "quiet" Fev had been during an interview at training, not saying much in anticipation of spilling the beans on TFS.

Surely, since he's getting extra $$ from Carlton as our new media frontman, he should be being much more open and forthcoming with the media at all times, especially when he's got an "exclusive" and even if it is after training on a Thursday night???

Am I being a bit paranoid here, or is there actually some logic in what I'm saying?

Rich

Bluey,

When does his new contract start with the marketing component?
Answer: 2006.
Are you paranoid? Yes.

Heard of D.Woods? Brendan talks more than him!

Apart from his family, Fevs' first priority should be and is his footy club considering the wage he's on. Every skerrick(spelling?) of good footy news he and the club have should be spread as far and wide through the media as possible. TFS should be a distant second in terms of publicity priorities if what little they showed last thursday about his re-signing is any indication.

Thank God his first priority is not himself otherwise he would be at another club getting an extra $100,000 a year.
How much more do people want?

quite possibly Fev and the club are being a little quiet (not exactly downplaying the signing, we did hear some very pleased people in Malouf, Pagan and Collo) out of respect for the MANY difficult negotiations still going on between out-of-contract players and the club.

I don't have a problem with it at all.

Well if sticks & Malouf are offering "fair and reasonable" deals, which I believe they would be, and MANY of the remaining uncontracted players are being "difficult" then considering our current on field status do we really want them?
I don't agree with holding back a positive news story involving our highest profiled player just to appease some apparantly "difficult" uncontracted players. I wonder what the sponsors would think?

see budzy, I hardly think it has been held back...it has been all over the tv, press and the office water cooler all week... I really don't care if Fev isn't bragging about it, I'd rather he concentrated on getting his game 100%.

Besides, some players may not be very "difficult" in their negotiations at the moment, but if Fev's great contract is held up for everyone to salivate over, they might be inclined to dig their heels in more. You're right, who wants them if they do that, but why give them any incentive to do it in the first place?

Fevs' deal was great for the club financially and apparantly for him coz he loves the club and wants to play for Carlton. It's not as if he got $600k for 5 years. The club and Fev should promote the MUTUALLY good deal far and wide.
As far as giving the others incentive to play hard ball, well it's a darn good test for them to see where their "interests" really lie don't you think?

I just wanted to give my opinion on the 3 year contract that Fevola has signed at Carlton. Glad to see him staying with us, but does he really deserve the money he is going to be getting? Yeah he might be kicking goals for us, but does he do much else?
I dont want to attack Fevs, when he is good he is bloody well good, but I dont believe he is a team player and I dont think I am alone here in saying, if he is up against an opponent who is beating him, he just gives up, he spits the dummy and gives up, not only does he give up on himself, but he gives up, helping out his team mates... and that is not on! I guess I am just worried that we are giving this much money to him (and he doens't just get money from Carlton!)... and what if he doesn't lift his game? What if he continues to spit the dummy and give up? And play for himself?
I really do not think he is worth that much. If he starts playing better and more consistant football, then I will be very happy and know that he is worth all that he is given, but... well, he needs to get over himself a little and focus on the game a bit more.

Yeah, when he wants to and when he is on somebody who he is beating. As I said, when he is good, he is bloody good!

I think Fev has lifted his game & we no longer see the dummy spits that we used to. I think, particularly in the last game against the bulldogs he played a great team game, he was constantly talking, revving up the boys where he could & his chasing & tacklig was as good as I've seen it for a long time. I agree that we need to see this more consistently from him as he is a bit up and down at the moment but I have no doubt that he is worth every bit that we pay him.

Agree with BGD, Fev has lifted, hopefully it wasnt cause he had a contract to sign. If only the rest of the team played with the grunt that Fevs did. At least he is intimidating.
