Why bloody not, I say.

If he wants to play CHF I'd let him.

He's taken to every other position he's played in. Knowing him he'll become a really dominant CHF for years. So what's the harm?

"oh Tyrant... but what about our horrible defence? We will certainly lose without Thornton in defence.....!!!!"

you mean, and spoil all the winning we're doing at the moment???

If Thornton's this "upset dude who can't play the spot he wants", I say, let him play where he wants FFS! I strongly believe that players should have a chance to make their mark where they want it to be made. He's been a wonderful defender for us. Now lets see WHAT ELSE he can do.

2 matchwinning forwards would hardly hurt us now would it.

Kouta can play in defence to get some touch.

And Whitnall can play.... well....... whatever!

i've always liked the idea of trying him up forward. As soon as we can settle a backline I think we should. Like you say though nothing to ose this year by trying him up forward.

I missed the part where Thornton was the upset player...?

I'd be happy for Thorny to play in the midfield if it meant an end to some downhill skiing.

..Didn't you start a thread recently assuming that Walker was the 'unhappy young player'?

Covering all bases?

Would rather see Karl Norman get a run up forward as a another tall.. I'm sure a change of scenery might bring out the best in him...

The year we promoted him off the Rookie List - he played some excellent football in the Forward Line for us and kicked a few goals as well in the Pre-Season Competition.

Yeah I remember he was originally drafted as a forward.

Take our only good key position defender and put him up forward. Great Idea.

SOS could have been a champion forward if it wasn't for Sticks. Thing is we did have Sticks like we have Fevola, Lance and Waite now.

Forward line is not the problem, everywhere else is.

Then why does the ball keep coming back from our HF line like a basketball rebound fast break? Shouldn't the forward line be helping to keep the ball in?

I think that TheGame is partly correct; the forward line is not really a problem in terms of its capability to kick goals. The problem with the forward line is clearly a lack of forward line pressure. However if that's what you're alluding to Clem, I don't see how Thornton going forward will necessarily help this?

I'm a believer that your defenders play in defence and your forwards play forward, midfielders in the midfield etc. Obviously there are examples where players have re-invented themselves in new positions but overall you'd say that logically your defenders should play in defence and forwards up forward.

Thornton in my opinion will be a long-term key position defender for this club so why throw him forward?

Maybe the ball rebounding quickly out of our forward line is due to the way its being delivered. Hardly to an advantage when its left, right, over & under the leading player.

Thornton should be retained in defence as a long term CHB.

Also still got Fisher to come back onto the HFF as a 3rd tall/marking player.
