Pagan on SPorts 927 maybe good to listen as the opening remark was to say that there will be players who dont realise what you have when you no longer have it ... so seems like players have been spoken to at this point in time

Lets see what DP has to say

Denis spoke very highly of the players on the rookie list, especially Jesse Smith...

J Smith, Santanta only if we promote them.. depends on ADL...

Pagan talks of support for the Kouta, Campo and Stevens.... we all know that... that was a problem 2 years ago....

Said Campo was excited about help in the midfield.

T-Lo is ready to come back after starting training in March.

Fisher has had 5 games in VFL and Denis wants him back.

Missing French leadership, who shows the way.... Can't wait to get Chris Byran and French working in tadum..

Players are keen and enthusiastic... Pagan said it about 30 times in his 30 minute interview....

Pagan said that only 1 player has ever agreed with him when he told them their footy days were over, the rest pretty much slammed the door on the way out... Hope the tighten the screws on the door hinges before the end of the season...

They can't believe supporter forums have turned on Campo....

On the Under 18 championship.. Pagan said you need to view the tapes over 6 games, not 1 or 2, brought up the example of Mitch Harn (think) were he hardly got a touch.. Pagan said to leave it to the recruiters..
just hope they don't pick Vance and Massie with the early picks..

This came out of Ian Coutts mouth..

He also said somebody said Stevens had sloppy disposal, but defended Stevens as he was trying to tell players where to go to receive the kick...

That's alright Synbad, I'm just all fired up watching the cricket after seeing Jones throw the ball back at Hayden and hitting him on the elbow....

What a minute I thought Campo was GAWN!!!! at seasons end. Seems the club had a higher opinion of him than some on this board

Also the Vances', Livo's*, Angwins and the Massies* of this world are proof that theory that total reliance on early draft picks to achievce success has some flaws.

* Both Livo and Massie are good players but are not the 'superstars' that the PP theorists would have us believe happens only with early picks.

Yes you need ability, but guided development and temperment are equally if not more important, than pure talent alone.

Clubs will be relying increasingly on personality testing this year and beyond to determine which players are drafted and when.

Riewoldt = Priority pick Mark not Livo.
Vance wasnt one either.....

Plus noone said the club will get rid of Campo.. i would have gotten rid of him... even if it meant i got nothing for him.
Campo = ZERO trade worth... but will get a huge pay cut.

Campo has realised that the $600,000 + gravy train is coming to an end, he will play for the club at a fair market value - whether he provides a fair return to the club is another story.

As for the PP - well I think we should just trade away our first 3 draft picks and start selecting from about Pick 40 and beyond because obviously thats where the talent is (according to some) because anything in the Top Ten are duds.

True BM, but recruiting has become more professional in the last 3-4 years.

Our recruiting especially in the last 2 years has improved 10 fold.

and Angwin, even when he was picked at 7, was known to be a bit of a nutter. I think you will find that these days, recruiters take into account their attitude just as much as their ability.

It'll be a long time before we see another Angwin IMHO.

There aren't many mis-spent top 10 picks in the last 3-4 years.

Gee Synbad I have been saying all year that Campo wil take a paycut, do not need to be to bright to figure that out. And you where certainly implying in more than one post that the club was dissatisfied with Campo.

Agro, have never said that we should not take advantage of early picks and in fact have said that if we finish last then we should take advantage of them, no issue with that at all. I have also said the trading of early picks should not be an option either. What I have said is this. Drafts picks (read 'young guns' are not the be all and end all of re-building a side and total reliance on th)em is fraught with risk. You need to be smart in your recruiting and development of players, something as a club we have been poor at for many years. You need to recruit and maintain a balance of young draftees, good mature players and a core of senior experienced players. Its when you get the balance right, is when you have success.
