The club's got the honour of having the longest odds for the round, paying $8.50 on both Norm Short Sportsbook and Centrebet for a win against West Coast.

Blues' backers at short odds to be impoverished

I love this quote...

Quote:
Even at those odds, however, there is little interest. Yesterday afternoon, Sportsbet was holding only $395 on the Blues. One supreme optimist had plonked $100 down to win almost $700. "I don't know what they were thinking," said spokesman Gary Davies. "I think we'll have that hundred by Saturday night."

Its going to be one of those games I'm going to regret watching...

In 1991 - I had $100 on Fitzroy (bottom of the ladder) to beat West Coast (top of the ladder) for their Round 22. I got 8 to 1, guess what Fitzroy got up. and I collected. 8)

I also think the West Coast side collected as well, as they were 3 games clear and were funding their end of season trip.

I put $50 on us at $7 to beat the Lions at Optus in 03'. I also chucked another $10 to win by over 39 1/2 pts that was paying $21. Needless to say I was pumped when we were up by 40 pts in the 2nd quarter and stood to collect over $500. Then as we all know it all turned to sh!t.

Tip of the day: Don't back the Blues.

I don't know whether it was that game, AGRO, but I also made a killing on Fitzroy against West Coast in WA. In my case, a friend who was a Fitzroy supporter told me that he'd heard from someone with contacts with the team that they were backing themselves to win. We both put a bundle on them and sure enough they won. The odds came in dramatically just before the game.

I'd love to be able to recall whether it was the same game as your one :)

Freakishly similar to what happened yesterday.
