Why isn't Karl Norman getting a go in the side it just dont seem to make sense that he played well last year and has hardly played this year.

Given the fact that he has pissed his career up the wall and will never be chosen again, why not just retire him, and bring in a rookie - can we do that?

I think that was outlawed after the Capuano incident.

It is a damn shame that for whatever reason Karl is not playing senior football. He has an opportunity many would love to grasp, and has the potential to be one of the best in the league in his position.

C'mon Karl!

Is everyone here convinced that Dennis has stamped his file "Get rid of at first opportunity"? I would get rid of 10 guys before him.He is one guy Sheedy would love to get hold of to prove he is a better coach than anyone else.

Earlier in the Year... ANZAC DAY... I wrote a piece about the training session that I had witnessed. Karl was being blasted from all sides and couldn't have cared less.

I would say that he is one of the " you don't know what you lost till it's gone" that Dennis was alluding to in the 927 Sport converstaion earlier this week.

Karl doesn't deserve a spot. Don't give him one for the sake of it!!

The situation with Karl is so frustrating in a very frustrating year!

I think Pagan is definitely referring to Karl in his comments.

I guess for Karl he knows that someone will pick him up and take a punt with him so he is biding his time it seems.

It's disappointing isn't it that Karl was so good last year and even after the eccy incident he was rushed back after one game out, yet now he appears to be heading for delisting. I really think he has the talent to develop into an All Austral'n player, I'd certainly give him another year. We don't have enough talent to be throwing it away. I think Bullants followers reported he played a really good game against Port (Rocca and McK - Rocca kicked 10 last week). I think it is a test for Karl, but also the coaching staff. If he were delisted and then go to another club and do well, it would be not be good. Sometimes just blasting players doesn't work. Let's hope our set up is a little more spophisticated than that

I'd say he's in that 5-10% that Denis said isn't trying as hard as they can.

There was actually trade value for him last year, apparently there were only about 4 players other clubs asked about, Norman was one of them.

I'd let him go to get a pick, but i suspect that we will lose him for nothing by him being delisted.

My thoughts exactly.

IF they wanted to trade him, would they play him in the firsts to build his currency or just let him rot & give someone else a go?

Looks like we'll let him rot

Biggest disappointment this year

I think that was outlawed after the Capuano incident.

Molsey, you're right that the Capuano incident led to a restriction on mid-season sackings - the AFL and AFLPA have to sign off on them now. Remember when Angwin was sacked - the AFL and AFLPA gave their OK. If a player repeatedly fails to turn up to training or games or turns up drugged or drunk to training, their approval is likely to be given. But it wouldn't be given merely because a player doesn't have the "right attitude" if he is doing the things he is contracted to do. So little chance of Karl being sacked unless he does something stupid (and, like, what are the chances of that?).

On the other side of the equation, a club can't promote a rookie to fill a spot vacated by a player who retires or is sacked mid-season. Capuano was not replaced by Murray - Murray was promoted to replace a player on the LTI list. We weren't able to replace Croad, nor was WC able to replace Jakovich.
