I don't know about you guys but I must say I am saddened by the decline (not demise) of Trent Sporn. I thought he was a class player and perhaps should have come on a bit more by now. He's done good jobs on James Hird, and then he got that serious shoulder injury, if I stand corrected.

He moved so well and looked like a real gun and now he seems to have fallen away. I hope he bounces back.

What do you think?

Sporn's done a good job on Embley so far.

Embley had 35 possessions last week, he's had 9 to half time today

I thought Sporn was great against the Hawks. Gave him a vote in my B&F.

If he plays a few more games like that, he must just survive the cut come end of year.

One of our more talented younger players, hasn't come through though and will probably be delisted.

Good wizard cup but hasnt done enough since...was a poor choice at No 11 in the 2000 draft...still waiting for him to grow into a CHB...meanwhile the obvious choice at pick 11 continues to rack up the clearances at the Kanga's...

Will get shot down for this but I would be one to persevere with Sporn, Wiggins and Livo as well.

It's easy to dismiss them as crap and I know time is running out but I'd like to see these guys given a chance in a half decent team. Sporn and Wiggo didn't get much chance last yr when we were competitive due to injury and Livo has done ok when the team has been competitive. They will never be A grade superstars but could be more than serviceable.

These guys have been subjected to playing in the least competitive blues outfit in a generation let alone the worst team in the AFL over the past 4 yrs. They are confidence players, that is their mental makeup and have more than likely grown up playing footy as stars and in competitive teams. Shit, even Judd and Luke Ball would probably have serious mental scarring if they had been playing for us over the past few years.

IMO, there are 2 types of crap players:

1. those that are crap in a good and bad team
2. those that are crap in a bad team only

IMO Sporn, Wiggo and Livo fit into 2. They are young (still all 22) and we have a few other candidates that fit into 1 that are a bit older.

Will they survive? Who knows?

But if Daniel Harris was such an obvious choice, why did the Roos choose Dylan Smith and Daniel Motlop ahead of him (only to delist them later)? Perhaps because it is easier to see talent in hindsight than it is amongst unproven and physically immature 17 year olds?

Daniel Motlop is still on their list - did a shoulder at the strat of the year and a hammy??? later on
They delisted his brother Shannon (now at the dees)

Can't believe 'talent' is used to describe Sporn. When has he shown this? I recall a good game on Hird (coming back from injury was it not?)

Does not do enough and the non-selection of Norman to play on Williams is proof we did not want to win on Saturday.

Sporn has had a bad trot with injuries - his legs are a little suspect I'd say.

I have seen flashes of excellence from him - the odd freak goal or courageous mark, but he lacks pace and imagination so far. He could have developed into a decent onballer but he seems too fragile.

He seems to fit into the same category as Davies & Wiggins - we know what they can do but they just can't seem to put everything together on the day consistently.

Give the kid another year though. It sounds like there will be plenty of others leaving at year's end.....we should keep him on and see how he goes with a full season &pre-season under his belt.

Sporn is contracted for next year.

Sporn is good one on one however his problem starts when he has to deliver the ball!!

His disposal is very poor, too many turn overs.
