Hey there folks

I can tell you all missed me (more like didn't even notice I was gone).

Been in transit betwwn my old home in Brissy and my new digs in Perth with no flippin' internet.

Just as well probably - I may well have had to shoot myself if the way the Blues have been going has any effect on the amount of depressing diatribes on this site.

I haven't had much of a chance to see much of the Blueboys (with no foxtel) and that seems to have been a good thing also. I did see the Adelaide game, and the Brisbane game (shudder).

All I can say is this (and I know it's not exactly news). The one big gap between us and EVERYONE else in the competition (bar the Dorks, maybe), from this far viewpoint, is skill.

Skill, and little of it, is our problem. The good teams have it by the backetload, the average teams have it by the bowl full, and we have it by the teaspoonful. As we saw in the Brissy game, we can mix it with the best in terms of getting the ball, and we have capable forwards and a decent team of backmen coming along.

None of that matters when we persist with kicking the ball directly to the opposition.

I have never been terribly warm to Synbad's play-for-picks approach, but frankly, I see no other way forward but to get a few decently skilled players in the side, whether by trades, PSD or whatever.

I can only say I am glad I will be unpacking all my stuff on the weekend when we are mercilessly slaughtered by the weevils.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and all that. Sorry if I have depressed anyone. I figure I am allowed a hit and run on my first post back in 5 weeks.

Be back online f/t after the weekend.

Cheers you guys - hope you are all well and keeping (mostly) sane.

Yours hanging out for a Tommi fix

Ponkstar

Perth! Yikes ... now you'll have to suffer all the Weagles hype. So, are you brave enough to go this weekend?

And, welcome home ponky. :D

Yeah Ponks - the weagels hype is SOOOOOOOO annoying , but everything here at the moment is dockers this dockers that because they all had a bit of a drink on the weekend

The perth media are so bloody annoying

anyways

I'll be there this weekend cheering on the blues and stirring shit - nothing better than sitting in the carlton block and singing the song all day until you can no longer speak whilst the eagles snobby members sip their wine and point at the scoreboard.

The obligatory "16 premierships" will no doubt get yelled out this weekend.

Sure we will probably lose by 100 but there's nothing better than being surrounded by fellow WA blues fans and tormenting the eagles prim and prissy supporters and members

GO BLUES !

Perth has one thing going for it.

It's not Adelaide.

Thanks for your words guys.

I was in Adelaide for work when I wrote that post and I only just got the dialup going while I wait to give bigpond the mighty arse. Interestingly I went out to dinner at La Porchetta in Morley on Friday with my family on the way home from the airport and got to say g'day to Kouta who was sitting around sipping lattes with a few mates (not teammates unfortunately). He was very nice, and had some nice words to say to young Ponk Jr.

Anyway, yes the Eagles hype is very big here in Perth but I am loving watching the knife get stuck into Freo's belly.

I'm looking forward to getting back into the discussions here at TC. Maybe I could start with the Blues' newfound consistency

Deano - you couldn't have said it better.

Oh, and Tommi, here's one back at ya NORKS!
