Welcome to another one day late edition of Wolfister's Weekly one cent stats. The gang at Wolfister Inc (the big blue office at the bottom end of town) have been flat out this week with end of financial year stuff, and they've come in especially on the weekend to bring you the stats that matter - the stats that will no doubt kick off a remarkable run of 8 victories in a row, seeing us just scrape into the finals.... yes... it is still mathematically possible!
Carlton have played the Saints 198 times for 156 wins (78.8%) at PM+4437. But as impressive as that stat is, the Saints have won their last 5 in a row against us (which equals their best run ever against us (1963-1966) - so we must win tomorrow to stop this from becoming their biggest winning streak against us ever. The last 5 losses have come at a massive PM-278 - so that's an average of nearly 10 goals. We have won 4 of the last 10 though, at PM-154. We've played St Kilda 6 times at the Docklands for 2 wins - the last win back on a Sunday afternoon in 2001.
We've played 104 Round 15 matches, for 66 wins (63.5%) at PM+1162 - our 9th best round on record. We've won 1 of our last 5 (PM-225) and 4 of our last 10 (PM-158) - however we have lost our last 4 Round 15s in a row at PM-249. Our worst Round 15 run came back in 1949 - 1953 where we lost 5 in a row, at a PM of only -105. We've played the Saints 11 times in Round 15, for 9 wins (81.8%) at PM+205. The last time we met was back in 1988, where we struggled to a 4 point win at Moorabbin.
July 10 has been a happy hunting ground for the Blue boys, winning 12 of our 15 starts (80%) at PM+344 - making July 10 our 24th most successful day. We've won our last 3 July 10s - the last a 48 point win over reigning premier Adelaide at Princes Park in 1999. We've met St Kilda twice on July 10, winning both games - the last a 76 point win at Waverley in 1982.
Till next week remember that 94% of statistics really satisfy.
Wolf out!
