Post subject:  Robert Walls a sad man indeed

I have become increasingly frustrated with Robert Walls cheap potshots from the safety of the commentary box or behind a keyboard but satisifed myself that he was simply the quiet mans Dermott Brereton with a thuggish view of the game that best remained in the 1970's - the so-called 'real man's' approach to footy. I had accepted that this was a tough sport, with players and coaches earning good money to live a dream and that the cost of this was exposure to people like Walls.

Today I heard that his oafish comments went towards one of this tall poppy targets in the form of a 10 year old EDFL junior who told Walls at a recent local club function that when he grew up he wanted to play for Carlton. Walls apparently wiped the stars from the kids eyes with a simple 'You? You're too weedy son!' Great call Wallsy, fantastic courage to dash a kids dreams like that.

Take a look in the mirror Wallsy, you were a champ CHF but your arms weren't exactly rippling with biceps & triceps.

Fair enough, but what of him telling a 10yo kid that he's too weedy to ever play AFL?

First of all its a bit of Chinese whispers. Read the original post. I am always wary of reports of a persons comments unless they are directly reported.
Wallsy is not popular with Carlton fans cos he's being honest. Dont kid yourself. The guy bled for Carlton and loves the club as much as anyone. But he is laso paid to give his honest opinion.

He does come out with the most pathetic crap sometimes. Almost like he's trying to prove he's just as tough on the blues as anyone else. His call to trade both Fev and Lance was just an attempt to get his name in lights.

The only way you would consider that is if it included Judd and Pavlich.

Not possible to trade those players for any draft picks and expect any success at all for at least 3 years. If that's his idea of coaching, it's not surprising he was sacked, and sacked, and sacked, and........

The only positive is that he hates Essendon* more than anybody :D

Fair enough, heard it from the kids old man who was there. He was furious.

Ahhh - no. "The former Blues champion went on to be involved with four clubs in all but still has "a soft spot for the Blues but " -I don't lose an ounce of sleep if they lose

You are not seriously suggesting this is a mandate to be candid about a 10 year old's chances of ever donning the Navy Blue?

Yeah, cos Fev+Lance > Judd+Pavlich... Hell, maybe we should aim for Cousins as well...
