Or at least his Manager is saying so. Says either a 3 year deal or Lappin goes to another club. Says he nearly did in 2002 before taking a 15% pay cut. Says Lappin has done the hard yards over the last few years so now its time for the club to cut him some slack. My opinion on this? We want to build for the future, not reward for a past we'd rather forget. Either help rebuild the place or get out. I don't care who you are. But that's just my opinion. |

Would love to keep him but we shouldn't allow ourselves to be held to ransom by our own any longer. Good luck for the future Matthew. |

Can we pay him by weight? |

see ya. While he is a great player and all, we need to be tough. I wouldn't be offering a 29yr old a 3 year contract no matter who he is. |

Especially with the rigmarole we went through last time with his threats to dump us for Richmond. I do love how you play Skinny, but your off field attitude frankly sucks |

@#$%&! him off. Sick of these bastards thinking that we owe them. In Lappin's case, he owes us. We took him in when St.Kilda didn't want him. We stood by him when he was getting into all sorts of trouble a few years back. |

I'd withhold comment until something credible comes up, having said that, this has been brewing for a little while. I think we have to hold firm and offer 2 years maximum. He was excellent last year but when he's needed to be more accountable, he, along with Houlihan have been found wanting. |

If this is true, it will be such a shame to lose Lappo, and to have him go on bad terms. But 3 years at his age is ridiculous...unless it is only for something like $100K a year. |

He can join Camporeale,Lance and Houlihan in the outbox if that's the case. |

I can understand that he wants the security of a three year deal, but surely if he's looking to do the best for the club he'd take the two offered then show that he deserves another year during those two seasons. |

Arrividerci, ciao, au revoir Mr Lappin. At 29, and wanting 3 years, you've got to be kidding. Clubs are interested, so let's trade. Nothing less than a second rounder. However, packaged up with Whitnall I'd be asking for a first round pick plus a regular senior player. ![]() |

If it is true then time for the club to make a stand. 2 years 250k a season. Prepared to go up to 300 and that is all. If he wants more then ask him what club he would like to go to and arrange a trade. He deserves that much consideration. If he wants to walk for nothing and is serious and I dont mean manager bluff but serious haeat to heart with Collo then I would drop him to the reserves. Stamp him as never to play for the seniors again. Bearing in mind that a lot of this stuff is just bluff. Seeems to me if Matty can get 3 years from another club then let him go. Prepared to take a third round pick for him if we cant get a second rounder. I have reached the point that if all the talk is true and these 3 guys are holding out for unreasonable terms they can all go for nothing. They are a large part of the problem at Carlton. Sellfish players on the field and off the field. The culture needs to change. These 3 blokes are a big part of why we are not going forward. |

I've no problem with Lappin trying to get the best deal he can whether it's with Carlton or another club. He needs to do what's in his own best interest. His tenure as a AFL footballer is limited and I can see why he would want to maximize his earnings over the next few years. It's got nothing to do with loyality, in a few years time his future earnings capacity wont be the same so I can understand why he would want to get as much as he can before he ultimately retires. It rubs both ways, he and the club owe each other nothing excpet to perform in a professional manner while he's still employed by the club. |
