Channel 7 News on Sunday night had an item on the "Western Bulldogs" Sunday Morning recovery session and the general gist of the story was they were "licking their wounds" etc. Who won the bloody game anyway??? I thought Sundays papers were pretty muted in their coverage about our efforts after all we are the only Victorian Team in the Wizard Cup Grand Final - just imagine if Collingwood or Essendon* were in it. I know there was a Grand Prix and all - but I reckon we were dudded in the coverage we received. What do others think?? |

just on TV coverage, the earliest you can see the game up here in canberra is 11PM and this is for the GF. it's on at 11 on 10 and 11.30 PM pm on FOX. what a Fricken joke! i hope fox changes the time its on. i was hoping for an 8.30 delayed start. |

I think we did ok given all the other events going on - grand prix + davis cup. the thing that concerned me was howe little the WCE v North game receievd; virtually nothing over here. Is this a grand final or not? Is the Wizard Cup a key part of the season or not? I know the Club is trying to go all out for attention this week; wouldn't be surprised if they pump out some articles and interviews with key players today or some time soon. |

I agree AGRO I was driving back from Canberra yesterday and was hanging out to get to Albury so I could get a copy of the HS and was very underwhelmed with the coverage in yesterdays paper. Today's is not much better. The Age at least as greater focus. Maybe the build up will be focussed on given that we had the GP on during the weekend. |

What gives? Channel 10 at 11 in Canberra and Channel 9 in Sydney at 1am Sunday morning. The AFL talks about promoting the game up here by proposing to spend 20 mil on development but cant get free to air to show it at a decent time. Give it back to channel 7 at least you knew you would get a game on Fri Sat and Sun with them. |

It has been dissapointing and the AFL should not underestimate the power of Blue............any one who doesnt barrack for us will want to see us lose. |

Furthermore, I was stunned to see how little AFL news there was in the NSW papers while I was in Canberra. That was probably my 1st taste of the print news in the northern state and I think that it is a good indication of how popular the code is up north. If it was geniunely established I would expect more coverage. I think the Storm gets more coverage here in Melb than the aorresponding AFL sides get in the northern states. |

Spot on...This is ridiculous...Im going to brisbane this weekend and the earliest it is on is at 8:30 (if im right that means 9:30 Melbourne time)...The game will be over by then and i dont know about you guys but it is very hard (especially in grand finals) not to know the score...Oh well, it looks like afl.com is going to get a bit of a workout... ![]() |

Agro, although I noticed exactly your point, it is the preseason! If we carry this through to the season, watch the press we get then. |

Why do we watch replays of the round 12 game between Geelong and Collingwood in 1984 on Fox while a game is going on live and the station that is supposed to be covering it is playing some crap movie? |

I think the media's coverage is of a 'ignore it and it will go away' bent. Sorry guys, it don't work that way. ![]() |
