Was hard to see on the vision I saw so hope there's clearer vision otherwise they'll side with the umpire. They always do. FWIW post game Weiters said it was open hand to chest. Let's hope the vision backs that up. |

Loved the first half. Great tackling and effort. Most importantly, I thought our mids played man on man and didn't all get sucked into the contest. They trusted a team mate to win it and picked up the players on the outside of the contest. We tackled if they won the ball or spread hard if we won it. Even though we outscored them in the last quarter, I thought we regressed a bit. Doc, Weiters, Young, Saad and to a lesser extent Kemp went back to their slow, backwards mode after playing good attacking footy in the first half. It does my head in. It's like the coaches finally get the players performing the fast game they want and some players want to play the game on their own terms. |

How the hell was Martin allowed to kick his last goal from where he did? |

Nothing much into it. 2 pushes, the 2nd may have included an intent to hurt abit more than the first. Weiters claims it was an open hand fend odd in post game interview. No one has really made it a headliner because it may cause embarrassment...hang on, that's how the media business works. |

True, but I didnt think they could sustain that first have defensive onslaught, and they seem to play like they knew they were a tad sapped. |

Went to the game. Liked the pressure and the way we ran. Lot more players working hard than earlier in the year. Just hard to tell how good the Hawks were. Walsh was awesome as was Cerra. Thought Young & Jack battled hard in the Ruck but I hope it doesn't happen again. Lucky we were against an average Ruck combo. Defence was very good. Liked the games of Fogarty & Cuningham up forward. |

We were more composed with the ball. Less hack kicks, lowered the eyes and tried to hit up a teammate. Converting better also helps … a lot. |

He then simply played on. I loved five things in particular: 1) The way we hunted, with intent and hunger. 2) The way we kept moving the ball quickly and, for the most part, forward. Doesn't need to be perfect but if we follow up with intent and hunger, the ball tends to keep moving forward. 3) Our defensive efforts across the ground were really solid. Even when they got the ball, I felt like we were 3 secs away from getting it back. 4) We were getting more shots from with 30m and within 45 degrees of the goal. 5) We snapped from attack to defense instantly if we lost the ball, or if we gained the ball. Reminded me of how Collingwood plays. It may just be that Voss was right to focus so intensively on defence in that presser. When we defend like that, tackle like that, (plus move the ball forward rather than sideways or backwards) it opens up more opportunities forward and better quality opportunities. |

We certainly look a much better side when Cunningham and Martin are playing. Boyd and Kemp coming along nicely. |

I thought he controlled the mark right on the goal line. Receives the ball from the umpire at least a metre in from the boundary line. But thanks ump, anyway. |

Similar to last game - much better performance More daring and good pressure around the ball Most players played well or at least did their role for the team Hard to know what to make of it given hawthorn are so young and frankly didn’t offer much resistance today Can’t complain with how we played though Next week is the bigger test if we want to even consider finals |

Cerra probably had the best all round game ... possessions, goals, tackles Weitering very solid Jack Silvagni efforts were fantastic Cripps, Walsh and Docherty gave us drive McGovern very good Kemp good Fogarty excellent forward pressure Great that Martin and Cuningham flashed in and out of the game but kick 5 between them. Moving the ball wide with momentum is opening up passing options in the inside lane |
