Don't hate me..................cause i'm just voicing my fears!

I just want to know how many of us have considered that the Carlton Football club may not exist in a few years time! What are the possibilities?

I'd follow the Doggies, but with nowhere near the same passion.

Wouldn't happen.

A strong Carlton means a strong AFL.

If the AFL lost one of the big four, they'd struggle.

Ok - all nice suggestions! BUT.......................

What i was really asking is just how much of a possibility is it of happening? I mean, everybody talks about this White Knight like Pratt or Mathison (??) but i'm not sold on that one!

No chance Ryan. Every Melbourne club bar the filth and the scum would go before us.

That's what my mum said...............................................about 6 months before Fitzroy folded!

This is all just too much like DeJavu for me!

I'm sick to flower death about my club being a lughing stock and the joke of the AFL! It's really pissing me off!

Something is wrong with the Carlton Football club! I don't want excuses - i want the problem solved because i'll be damned if i'm going through another club lost in just 10 years i can tell you that much!

Fitzroy were always going to go as soon as the AFL didn't want them there.(They wanted Port in) If the AFL wanted to trim the Vic clubs down again Kangas and Dogs will be first to go.
Relax Ryan we might be playing like Fitzroy but we are a long way off what they were.

I don't believe so. Carlton is not strong now and the boffins will tell you that memberships are up, TV ratings are up and attendances are up, across the board.

IMO the AFL would easily survive if it lost one of the big 4.

Our attendances have are at an all time high, memberships at an all time high when you consider us 'not strong'. Fact is compared to almost every other club we are going along very strongly, and the AFL can't afford to lose us because if another team was going as poorly you woudln't get the same results

Fair point. But we're clearly not strong on field and it seems our off field finances are still a bit pear shaped too.

But I do take your point, I think it has been great how well the fans have stuck by the club during these bad times. I still maintain that the AFL would survive and, eventually, recover if one, or more, of the big 4 clubs ceased to exist. To think we are indespensible is dangerous IMO.

I agree it wouldn't die, but I don't agree that it would ever fully recover, well not for a long long long time. Same for losing Richmond, Collingwood or Essendon*. Not strong on field was my point, and off field finances have little to do with what the AFL would care about, attendances etc. We have an extremely high average attendance
