Going to be hard next year if Silvagni goes.

Lewis Young just so poor in the contest...who is going to take the second tall forward if Silvagni isn't there while HOF is out for the season?

Where was the mongrel they showed tonight all season?

Harry almost choked some cauliflower at the end, I've never seen him that aggressive.

They were going into bat for each other all night.

Oh he's so gone.

Cripps said something like, well he'll always be a 100 game player for us....

you only play charlie down back all game, all season if you are forfeiting finals success at the get go. one tall forward isn’t enough. especially if harry is kicking 1.4 (ups and downs of footy i guess).

we found one in Frankie. Moir next best after Harry and a Charlie for marks. Moir takes half as many marks and contested marks as Charlie on average. i expect that to build steadily as he finds ways to impose himself on games like any true #43 must do. Williams doing more of the Owies role/stuff but probably a better contested mark in the square than Owies. Flynn could be anything at this stage. seems to find the ball in winning positions for a low possession forward, lovely left foot

Tdk seemed like he was a bit upset and was wiping tears away. Surely he wouldn't be doing that if he were staying, unless he was upset about the lost millions

They were going into bat for each other all night. dunno but my guess is that it’s playing more kids and now the seniors are playing the fast play-on at all costs style we’ve been seeing most of the season from the VFL team (well until Voss pinched the beat half the Blues VFL players for the seniors). playing that way and earning success (admittedly against weaker teams) seeds confidence and a bit of flow and freedom. maybe they feel like they have more licence to fly the flag if they aren’t worried so much about getting their (overly complex?) role executed. i think Cripps or another player said a week or two ago they’d be keeping it a bit more simple and be all about bringing the energy and contest with more inexperienced players in the team. who’d have thought that the best way to build the chemistry was not to leave the Senior team as unchanged as injuries allowed for but to bring in players with a little form. to be fair Moir was a bit lost in his early games at AFL and VFL level and a bunch of them have come on leaps and bounds this season. Voss seemed to have thirty kegs pulled from his shoulders a few weeks ago. was more easy and smiling in game previews and pressers, win or lose he wasn’t too phased, partly bc we were playing with more freedom and flair out of the back half when we took possession in our D50. and we have been more able to deliver quality kicks for uncontested and contested marks in goal kicking positions. just feels like some kind of burden was removed a month or two ago could it be that old chestnut of the old Navy-Blues-won’t-make-finals-this-year-blues followed by a couple of shockers and then some more relaxed players and play making? a few kids playing for their elevation to senior players at the expense of older players who will be traded or delisted at seasons end? feels that way. just hope we’ve all taken some life lessons and don’t have to experience this mediocre cauliflower soup next season. one quality tall defender short and losing TDK won’t help, but if we recruit again as well as last year or two then plenty of upside even with the loss of JSOS (just doesn’t feel right, who’s going to play the fart trumpet in the locker room now with JSOS fart trumpeting his way into pies folklore?) and TDK (Saints must have cash to burn offering that kind of money for TDK, but we can expect to see some TDK-Naz stoppage magic in 2026).

Pros: Dominated centre bounces and inside 50s again. Weiters, Hewett, Evans, Hollands, Motlop and Harry (despite his inaccuracy). Saad had a terrific first half. Flynn Young has had an encouraging 2 weeks. Good to see Wilson finding some ball and showing some dash. After an awful season, Acres has finished the year well. Cons: Low pressure, mistake riddled game.

We had 6 blokes that made their AFL debut this year playing tonight and they all played well. All you hear about is brave Essendon* and their injuries... @#$%&! em. Thank Christ 2025 is done. I honestly don't know where we are 2026. It's going to be a very interesting off season.

I'd say play HOK as the second tall forward like we have the past couple of weeks. He can take a grab, can kick and run. He can relief ruck too. He's coming along. We just need to keep developing him. Kemp is the other option to up forward in place of HOK or Moir. Wasn't it nice that you didn't mention Motlop or Durdin as forward options? They had some nice runs through the middle tonight. They have skill. They just don't show it enough up forward. They perhaps get a bit lazy. Make them work. Sent from my SM-S931B using Tapatalk
