Look I KNOW last night was disappointing and we can’t shy away from it but I don’t think it is all doom and gloom Third quarter diabolical but first 2 quarters apart from not taking our opportunities were very good - pressure good swans were jittery and an attempt at a more nuanced game style I personally didn’t think we would beat the Swans last night but extent of loss was disappointing and ineptitude of third quarter as well had to be seen to be believed But the AFL did us no favours fixturing us on 0 round at SCG Also did the swans have any injuries before this match compared to us Cowan Carroll Wilson Evan’s cotterell just to name a few -a couple of those would have been handy last night especially given the pace of swans side game 7 new players into the side and new layers to game plan means it will take a little time to gell On the positives How exciting was Jagga in his debut and also young Dean two hopefully very good 200 game players who are just starting their journey I thought Ainsworth Hayward and Florent all looked competent players Pitto was terrific and one of our better players for the night Walsh looked to be moving freely and getting plenty of ball Cooper Lord continues to improve Once again I don’t understand some of the selections Fogarty gave us nothing Byrne should have played HOK is a better forward than Reidy and quicker than both Pitto and Reidy so should have been selected rather than Reidy Yes disappointing end of season talk in here and going back to 2015 -2019 vibes total overreaction beat the Tigers next week and we are on our way |

The first half was positive, but that third quarter capitulation just cannot be ignored. That is more than just disappointing. The scary thing is it should have been worse. They missed a couple of sodas |

Yes but so did we in the first 2 quarters not ignoring 3rd quarter back half was diabolical but did kick first 2 in the third and was 22 points up -15 minutes shocking uncompetitive and crappy footy and efforts crushed us but there is something to work with I reckon Did anyone when fixture came out really think we would beat Sydney and thereafter where Sydney have no injuries and when we have 4-5 injuries to our best 23 plus that bloody idiot Newman suspended 7 different goal kickers is a positive in my view but need midfielders to kick some |

Look…. i thought we’d lose by 4 goals…or there abouts… but it was just the insanity of one mental quarter… Sure we lost the last quarter too…but after the 3rd…ANYTHING could’ve happened… I don’t know what the answer is…who does… That first half was ok…people say oh the swans were fumbly…but i think our contested pressure made them like that…. and in return…their contested pressure made us look second rate in the 2nd half… six goals in 10 mins punches the wind out of anyone…and then to do it again in the same 1/4… unheard of… it sounds like I’m making excuses now…but don’t worry…i switched channels with 10 mins to go in the 3rd…I NEVER do that… But after waiting all summer…i didn’t need the stress… kindest regards tommi I couldn’t sleep either…it took an Endone and Valium to send me off…sometimes you just have to go to the drug draw….&#@% it… |

The game felt a bit like the 2021 GF. |

But anyway. A good post Frank. Kept them to 2 goals in a half, need to have a look at what we were doing there, & take something from it. |

They missed a couple of sodas True, but 2 or 3 of their goals were either total arse or at least very high degree of difficulty. 12 was about right. |

Thought Jagga and Dean did well on debut . You just know they are long term players . Florent was good . Hayward and Ainsworth not bad . Reidy was OK I though . He contested well but his lack of mobility around the ground showed up . Given time he will work into it . Chesser played a good first half before fatigue kicked in which is totally understandable considering his lack of real match conditioning . I think the big thing everyone is missing is how draining the Sydney humidity is at the moment . Our second half fade out was due to our exhaustion . We just couldn't chase which made Sydney look a whole lot better than the ey are . ................... however , our lack of pace was exposed badly I must admit . Bring in Carroll and Wilson to provide a bit of run between the arcs . Also Charleston needs to be given a crack at it . Monaghan also coz he has improved out of sight over the summer . I thing the selectors need to gamble . Although there were worrying signs last night there is a heap of water to run under the bridge . |

Agree Mick unfortunately Wilson is out for 4-5 weeks I like Charleston too Mick neat disposal and a bit of pace And without being smart didn’t Collingwood get beaten badly by GWS in O week and played a PF not sure that happens too us but hysteria after that loss was similar to what’s happening now When GC beats Geelong comprehensively tonight in the GC are we going to be surprised and are the media going hysterical GC have few injuries playing at home and Geelong without danger and Cameron not much chance |

Agree Mick put your hand up I know it’s round 0 and as I said some way to go and let’s see but if 8 rounds in we don’t look like it we need to be integrating younger hungrier players into team - saad williams McGovern Fogarty all should be on notice in this regard Also senior core need a rev up Cripps and H really not good enough last night and senior core which included the 3 that left last year let us down in 2025 those who stayed should be redeeming themselves |

Our blokes have not long come out of a month-long heatwave. Every 3rd quarter stoppage, Sydney knocked it straight into the second level & we just weren’t there. When we had it, we were the same god-awful kick inside 50. It was a great snippet from the Giants doco, where Kingsley put it to them - ‘How many @#$%&! times can we get beat the same @#$%&! way!’ |
