BELOW IS WALKER'S DRAFT INFO
HAS HE UNDER PERFORMED THIS YEAR GIVEN HOW GOOD HIS FIRST GAME WAS.
I FEEL HE STILL LACKS CONSISTENCY, EVEN FOR HIS YOUNG AGE
YOUR THOUGHTS

Andrew Walker
Details:
Club: Echuca
DOB: 18 May 86 Hgt: 189cm Wgt: 83kg
Position: Wing/Half-back flank
Natural foot: Right
Honours:
AIS/AFL Academy
Victoria Country 2003
All Australian 2003
MVP of Victoria Country 2003
Wing in TAC Team of the Year
National Draft Camp Invitee 2003

TAC Stats:
2002: 1 game, 1 goal, 16.0 PPG.
2003: 14 games, 5 goals, 22.5 PPG.
Profile:
Walker is an extremely exciting half-back flanker who could also spend time on a wing or may even end up holding down a key defensive post. He has grown 4cm this year, and is still very young - he is only eligible for this draft by a month.

Walker has a lot of attributes that suggest he will be taken extremely early. His aerobic capacity is sensational, he won the 3km run at draft camp and came 2nd in the shuttle run. He also has a massive leap on him - one of his marks for Vic Country was a genuine screamer. Andrew is a fantastic mark, reads the play well and times his leaps to perfection.

He spent most of the year providing drive off half-back for Bendigo, but was used as a centre half back in Vic Country's final game and excelled there, was best on ground to win the MVP for his side.

Walker is a good kick on either foot, but better on his right. He has a very unusual habit of bouncing the ball with his left hand and gathering it back with one hand. Something that he might have to work on.
He has tremendous pace over the first 5 yards as well and is another who prefers to dispose of the ball by foot rather than hand. He started the year a little slowly after returning from Ireland but was exceptional after that, went right on with after the carnival. The only possible query I can think of is his consistency, does tend to flash in and out of games a little, but when you consider he is a year younger than most players I wouldn't worry about that too much. Certain top 10 selection for mine, should go in the top half dozen.

He will be a fine player in years to come no doubt. he just needs a little time to develop....

I must admit though that he looks pretty depressed usaually when i have seen him, almost as if he is crying out for help...Just my observation.

I guess you can understand it when he has incredible drive for success and he is stuck in our side..

The good times will come Andrew, make no mistake about it.

If he was depressed he wouldn't have resigned and looked happy about it.
I'm very happy with Mr. Walker's progress and see him as being integral to our future.
Regards Pedro.

I thought depression would make you resign...

Unless of course you meant re-sign, which is a completely different matter :D :D

I think he's been great. He's played on some champions of the game & either held his own or beat them. Put it this way, our current midfield is not going to teach him anything so by putting him on champion opposition, he is being taught by the best.

I think Pagan will unleash him next year or possibly the year after & he will really show what he is capable of.

He has been disappointing in 2005.
But he's not alone.
Waite is alone by himself as almost the only exception.
Maybe Fisher but he's only played 2 games.

yeah Carrots has shown nothing, Simmo Pffft.

yeah they've been okay, but they're not the type of players that will begin to dominate a game and get Carlton not just competitive but back to a power. Waite, Fisher, and hopefully Walker can become elite players.
Carazzo will probably become a good ordinary player though.

if simmo and carrzzo cannot help carlton become powerful again then who can? a team full of chris judd?

at the end of the day there is no substitute for talent.

they can't all be Chris Judd's, but we would be in a lot better position if we could have one, or even half a Judd.

I believe Carazzo and Simpson will become elite players of the AFL. I'm obviously seeing something Abaddon that you are not.

When we finally play carazzo in the midfield permanently we will see him rise.

His ball winning ability and ability to weave opponents is awesome to watch. His disposal is quite good too despite poor reviews.

In the past a young kid would have been given his first full year in the ressies and then a taste in his second year and be expected to step up in his third and fourth years. 1AW is still learning the game at AFL level. Dennis and the MC have given him a variety of roles to broaden his overall skills and adaptability.

Like most young players just starting out early in their career their form is up and down and towards the end of the season they start to tail off.

Andrew has shown us a glimpse of what he can deliver and with another year or two and some more talent around him he will blossom. Give him time and support.
