my worries about setanta not popping up in the goal kicking tally were answered today...he has been playing down back...and by god, he was great..he was rarely beaten all day and on some occasions marked the ball infront of his opponent as if he was the one making a lead....he looked really good and did some great things...really great things... i think he could be used permanently down back, although i have always pictured him as a forward... -------- also thought walkers demotion to the 2's was worth it...he played a great game and did some magical things... our team structure could be a lot different next year...and with russel, blackwell and hartlett (who all did some really good things) also to come in soon, we could really post a challenge next season....i actually feel positive about our team.... |

Can't fault his effort and endeavour. Big leap from VFL to AFL though. But I think he's at least more promising than half of the remainder of the list, so that's saying something. Will the big Pagan gamble pay off? |

Thought he looked a million dollars when he was charging around out on the wing. That's where he's gotta start his AFL career ALA Kouta in his early year's. |

you're right shags, his kicking style is very unorthodox...but it sure works. ![]() He hits a target more often than not...and he doesn't get rattled when under pressure... He stops and props and spins on a 20c piece, it's so much fun to watch. |

Couldn't agree more. As I watched him in action today, it was just so obvious he has been what our backline has been crying out for. He needs to be promoted for next year, and hopefully be played for 22 rounds in the backline, where he can learn the caper from the best forwards in the comp and use his huge frame and drive to really strengthen us back there. |

Super game by Setanta. He still made a few disposal and decision areas but apart from that looked great. I was also impressed with Hartlett in the first quarter. Thought he added a bit of toughness to the backline. |

see, I watched the last 10 minutes of the game and saw him get outmarked by David Haynes and thought "gee.... thats not good" but his other stuff was good. I like the "scruffy look" as well |

Don't like him as a backman. Prefer him as a forward. |

I agree with mickstar, he should probably begin out on a wing when (not if ![]() I was super happy with Setanta. I still feel he lacks a bit of confidence and self-belief. I don't think he has reached a level where it is more instinct instead of being thought out. He thrashed Lonergan, who is high up on a lot of supporter lists as an acquisition off season. Will definitely be given a senior spot next year. Would like to see him kick longer at times. Tends to try and spot a short option too often. He can kick it 50m+ so he shouldn't hold back |

Thought Setanta was ok in defence but its nit his ideal position. I agree that id love to see him kick the ball long but he did have the poise to settle down and try and spot a kick short. He didnt look flustered at all. He is coming along very well. |

He's my favorite player. In the 2nd qtr yesterday the ants dropped away a bit and who stepped up?....Setanta. Showed great leadership qualities I thought. He ran and worked his guts out. If he kicks on next year and becomes a regular in the seniors he could be captaincy material down the track. |

The only thing that I hope Setanta works on in the off season is his handballing. He seems to dish up hospital handballs to his teammates and in the AFL this can not only cause a turnover but get your teammate poleaxed at the same time. Other than that I was really excited. He's a bit of a hairy gorilla isn't he? In the quarter time huddle he was a big hairy monster sticking out above the rest of them. |
