an interesting article from april 2003 by jake niall written on the eve of the carl v coll game.

the first couple of the steps identified by jake are about to go into full swing, but i'm not sure steps 3 & 4 are quite there yet to say the least!

Great Article Maxy dunno where you dug that one from ... well i can see the Age.. but great reflection on our current situation and yep you are right seems to be going to a plan.. If that was Collos thoughts in 2003 then i hope he continues that view till the end of 2005.

Best show of the long term plan and i really do think that this is the year to bottom out. The ingredients are in place and the benfits far outway any short term fix or trying to believe we are better than we are.

Yes we won against the Tigers was great to see the players smile and show genuine happiness... was fantastic to beat the Tigers... we could afford to win this game but if you need to know why we need some Potential Stars to be injected in the club ... go back and re-watch our last encounter with the Tigers .. or against the Pies ...then you will geyt a reality check..

We are prob better than we show but can be a lot better with some injection of some really good kids and to chase some uncontracted player that has been squeezed by salary constraints.

Why do so many look at this draft as important to bottom out ...because this draft there is less star quality limited to the 3rd maybe 4th pick at best.. Those who dont understand that speak to recruiters they will tell you that Murphy yes we harp on him but he is the clear best prospect and then there maybe a couple who are good prospects under him but after that the draft is even and there will be some good players but i really want a gun this year someone of the Cooney / Delidio type who can develope and be a star in the midfield for us and this will be great for our other emerging talent.

and yes we do have some great kids coming up we saw that yesterday but we still need to get a couple of potential stars in the wings. Have that set up and ewverything else will progress in a positive direction

Not sure, on field anyway, that Collingwood or Melbourne are such great role models though. Clearly though, we could learn a lot of things from the Pies off the field.

I am envious of the way Eddie gets so much marketing exposure for his club on CH9. Seeing as we're tenants of CH7's stadium and they look like getting the tv rights back soon, we should climb into bed with CH7. Get Collo to start up a thursday night football oriented show perhaps

A new, re-invented Talking Footy would be nice. Put the thought back into football TV.

KK you just have to worry about coming across as an arrogant prick on one of those shows... A la Sheehan etc...

I guess you guys see a lot more of him than I do, but IMO, he's miles ahead of the smarmy gits on Ch9 which, thankfully, I rarely see.
