Any thoughts on who will be in and who will be out against Port?

Given Bryan was on his way out last week before injury, he may get a rest in the magoos.

That being said, today's announcement is the squad of 25 so I'd just add Sporn, Walker, Bowyer. Think it will be In: Bowyer Out: Bryan by game
time.

Bowyer in only because of his stellar last game against Burgoyne.

I'd prefer Bryan in and Prenders out but pretty sure that won't happen.

Given Prenda's form  against the tigers and Tex's game for the 'ants I was hoping for Out-Prenderghast In-Walker

Bryan will be given a spell.I saw Bowyer in the twos here in Geelong and he was great.Probably on his last chance if he gets selected. The big irishman should come in for prenders and walker should come in for McGrath

Should but can't as he's still a rookie

Unless you mean the big Irish Italian, De Luca?

Wrote a thread about French and Bryan maybe not working out as a tag team and it seems like I might be right with a few wanting Bryan out this week. Bryan needs to play most of the game on the ball to be effective and this on and off the ground stuff wont work with either him or French...French hardly touched the footy even though he had the bulk of the ruckwork.
I would keep both Bryan and French in the team this week and try and make it work...maybe Bryan to a key position and do the ruckwork around that area..Port are very tall and have good rucks so I think its unfair to French to leave him one out unless you want to lose the game...

Wouldnt mind seeing either Blackwell or Hartlett get a run this week..if we are tanking at least lets cover up it with the excuse we have a youth policy....

Is it that Elwood or is Bryan simply out of form? He seems to have lost his timing and generally looks like a goose. Or did we not notice this in his early games?

He is too straight and too long a kick at goal to leave in the side where he can accidently kick one from 70m out and screw up all our hard work

I'm calling on the match committee to implement an experimental policy in regards to selection this week. Let's see what else some of the players can do....give Bannister his wish at CHF...let Davies run on the ball for most of the day...stuff like that.

Lappin wont get dropped. I want to drop him as well but it wont happen.

I recon McGrath should go. Not very good oon the weekend and I reckon the Stats are a bit decieving on his game.

I think with French back he isnt the main man anymore and has lost form because he isnt getting the same amount of game time..he is a touch, confidence player whose biggest asset is his ability to get the ball around the ground....no argument from me that French at this stage is the better ruckman..but as we know French doesnt get the footy much.
Bryan plays the game like the old fashioned follower and needs to be playing a lot of minutes to get his confidence up....looks a goose?...dont disagree with that comment...he can look ungainly and shank kicks etc when its not going right. I just think we have two ruckman who have different strengths but are both better playing on the ball...the challenge is perhaps for Bryan to be able to multiskill in another position as he seems to have more natural talent..he didnt do much vs Richmond but did take a nice mark and kick a goal something that Barnaby probably cant do.....Bryan is a talent but does have the Corey McKernans about him...he is either very good or plays like a goose..not much in the middle.
You add Deluca to the mix and its hard to know what to do...I dont think chopping and changing with Bryan and Deluca will solve any problems either... ADL is a good mark and goalkicker when in form but can also be a buttered fingered goose himself and who can be equally inept in the ruck as Bryan.....maybe a ruck coach like Rehn can work it out..I cant...

From the AFL site:

Defender Bret Thornton will return to action for the Blues against Port Adelaide at the MCG on Sunday.

Thornton proved his fitness after being sidelined for two matches by a calf strain sustained against Fremantle in round 16.

Named in a back pocket, Thornton is one of three additions to a squad of 25. Also coming in are Simon Wiggins and Justin Davies, both of whom have been named on Carlton's seven-man interchange bench.

The Carlton selectors have otherwise retained the 22 who defeated Richmond in round 18.

Great selections really!!! TBird won't come up, you wouldn't think and if either Juzzy or Wiggo end up getting a run, replacing players from last week, then the side must be weaker than last weeks, yes? I guess if 1AW was included, then we might jag a win, so the MC gave him the week off to help us stay below the Dawks. Roll on October/November. 8)
