I know he has a few fans here but I am surprised he has had such a good go at the expense of others, I just don't see him fitting into our plans. He has had a combined total of 4 possies in the last two games, both games we spent a fair time in our forward line. He's averaged only 5 possies a game all year. He is not big enough for a marking forward, and not quick enough for a small/ medium forward (and he goes to ground all the time). He is only about the same size as Davies, and while Davies can be really frustrating, he is younger, also a bit slow but a fierce competitor. I'd give Livo a run up forward, what have we got to lose, He has more size and with Fev, Waite and FIsh whoever is our 4th forward gets the 4th best defender. I don't think Prenda has had much of a go (I know, I know, clumsy etc but i still have time for him) In 2001 Prenda was used as CHF in finals. Not saying he'd be great but would run his man ragged and compete, could do a bit of a Spalding. I think Setanta would be a better long term option as a 4th forward, taller and miles quicker than T-Lo. (I know he's still a rookie). Just not sure why T-Lo has the MCs eye more than lots of the Ants players.

Not a fan of his either. Has difficulty finding the footy and is poor defensively to boot. Actually I think he is the worst performed player to get a game this year. I'd prefer Digby in that role, hell I'd even rather Sporn.

Has been one of the major dissapointments this year but i think will survive the cut, as i think he has 2 year contract and suffered injury early Pre Season.I dont see him in the club after 2006 although unless he does a bit of damage up forward

I think you guys are being a bit harsh considering injury has held him back from a decent pre season. I think he will play an important role once our midfield becomes better in terms of skill (delivering the ball into fwd line). If he can play as an impact off the bench marking forward pocket/half forward in the mould of brad pearce kicking 2-3 goals per game then you'll appreciate the value. I think he could be a potent weapon moving forward in our development.

Will reserve judgment until he completes a proper pre-season. If unable to perform in 2006 after a full pre-season then pfft.

And who is deserving of the spot T-LO is taking in the team? Put Davies in so he can kick a miraculous goal from the boundary line once in three games?

Longmuir has been injured and everyone else has had their shot in the team and failed. He's not performing but he does fit into our forward structure - that's why he's being persisted with.

I thought he was just an elaborate ploy to help us recruit Justin.

Is not doing much up forward personally, but is part of a forward structure that is looking really dangerous. Keep him for another year but he could learn a few things about defensive pressure from Betts.

I agree with Agro in that wait until he does a preseason. As a fourth cog in our forward line ( Fev, Fish, Whitnall, Longmuir and Betts at their feet ) could be something there for the next 5 years. Waite to the wing.

I was interested a couple of weeks ago to hear Garry Lyon (who bags everything navy blue) give him a big wrap, having spent time with him at Melbourne. Basically said he's a huge talent who has been let down to date by his body.

I guess the main thing with T-Lo is that if he is retained someone else is cut, and I think there is potentially more upside with Davies, Prenda, Sporn, Wiggins - guys we have invested a lot of time in- than T-Lo. Some of those guys might go and they are all borderline, but if we want to bring Setanta onto the list he'd be a good swap for T-Lo. I know T-Lo had an interupted pre season, but Fish came back from a reco and slotted in really well. T-Lo is 26, has been around for 7 years, hasn't made it at two other clubs, averages about one possession a quarter against the oppos 4th defender and has poor defensive pressure. If we retain him, who goes off the list instead of him.

Longmuir is a dud and has to go if we are realistic about becoming a force again - end of story !!

I would shudder to think what would happen to our list if you held a position at the club.

I would think he'll stay for at least another year. Got heaps more talent than most players on our list.

Same applies to Houlihan.

Well it would in a vastly superior position to what it is now and what it would be like if lily-livered bleeding hearts like you ran the show.

Bottom of the ladder and you want to hang on to lemons .......

For a guy who actually plays the game PJ, I'm astounded at your level of naivety and the constant need to wear blinkers.

What is Longmuir's upside? What does he bring to the team that someone else doesn't?

he can bring a contest in a marking situation to our forward line along with Fish... and he brings the ball to ground instead of having the opposition mark it and take it away.

Theres no doubt about it.. he would be better in a team that is stronger than us.

Still has alot of talent but needs to hold his feet .. chase and bulk up.

If he's not suited to our team, and old enough to perhaps not be around when we need him, then why keep him?

Further, when he was in a stronger team he couldn't make the 22 because he is limited in where he can play. If Medhurst took his spot, then he wouldn't make the 22 at a good team.

Plus, bulk up at 26? C'mon, he's had 7-8 years of footy to do that. He can take a nice mark and kick a nice goal but it's all too rare. He's not a gamebreaker and we cannot expect improvement from someone at tthat age, notwithstanding French's improvement (partially assisted by rule changes).

Not for me.

Fair enough synners. He'd have to be pretty cheap to keep him, and I guess now that Clarke's contract is up we can renew him for base payments! :-D
